Max Pacioretty Playoff Discussion

has he been playing in the playoffs?

I heard he was a game-time decision in game 3 along with Gionta and I assumed neither played since I didn't notice them . . .

You must of missed the 1st 5 minutes of the game and his stupid penalty while us being on the pp which then eventually led to their 5 on 3 and the 1st goal of the game. That was pretty much it, he was useless last night

For his size and talent.. he doesn't get enough criticism for his lack of play.

he needs to go through an Eller treatment like what Eller got at the start of the season. Thing is he's already signed for ages.. so he might not even care. But start next year with scratching him, then give him 4th line minutes, no PP. See if he wakes up.

Another thing, if he's hurt, just stop playing him... he's worthless. Prust is hurt but Prust at 23% is better than many other players.

And the worst part of his play this year is that like DD his contract extension hasn't even kicked in yet. Going to be long years if they keep playing like this

Power forward with no power is like putting a chevette engine in a muscle car.

Unless he drives the net and causes chaos in the crease, he'll continue to suck. We need more Gallagher from him and less Desharnais if he hope to snap out of it.

I'm more curious to know if Gallant or Therrien have told him this yet. If not, why?

Max, drive to the ****ing net!

He's big but plays soft and with no passion. Perimeter player.

If he's not 100%, bench him.

I agree completely. This is clearly not a series that will be won because of star power. Heroes in this series have been borne out of players that work and skate the hardest, and if a guy like Paccioretty is doing neither, his name alone will do us no favors. My furst thought when he and Gionta started was "why play if they are injured." Gionta looked fine, but Pacioretty was clearly not playing his game, and hasn't been since whenever he got injured.

Hopefully Therrien gets this, and doesn't play him if unless he's ready to play the way he can.

He's clearly injured. Not an excuse, but it shows that he's not his normal self.

In that case, remove him.

I'd rather have a lesser skilled player who gives his 100% than a skilled player who only gives 60%. Patch is a liability at the moment.

Michel Bergeron said it on Antichambre last night.. He said pacioretty is clearly hurt and he's top type of player that you play at 75%.. He said Crosby, Ovechkin etc you can play them 75% because they are so talented they can pull it off.. but a guy like patches you put someone in that is going to compete

I don't think it's lazy or fear from Max, I think he just forgot what got him to the show. He needs to be sat down and watch some tape from last year, but even last year he was is a very one dimensional player. He has a good shot and he used to go to the dirty areas. He is very much like Ryder now, around the edges, still has a good shot though.

He needs to be liberated from DD line. I have seen patches make so many decent plays that die when DD mishandles puck or is loafing and 5 feet out of position, or not skating to net to grab rebound.

He's clearly hurt and his two linemates yesterday are guys who have been afraid to go in the corners all playoffs so there is basically no one on that line who can win a battle for a puck.

The play-offs is a grind and honestly, if your skilled players aren't willing to pay the price, they sit and you bring in grinders or rookies who are willing to do it.

No idea what happened to him but he's been awful this season. I hope he's just injured.

Best scoring player and has tied for 2nd most goals on our team, with near 1 ppg production. Look, I know he's not having a great playoffs, which he's only played 2 games. And he isn't playing exactly the same style as last season.

I'll agree that he's been invisible these past 2 games he's played and that his shots weren't so great. But to say he's been awful all season... come on...

If he was Russian, we'd have already run him out of town. Enough with this, him and his little buddy need to step it up big time.

His shots are not so great since the beginning of April. His shots are not so great because he's not willing to go in the traffic. He's soft on the boards and clueless in the offensive zone.

Yeah we know he has put lots of ghosts assist and lucky goals. Reality is, he played 200% better last year, period. Last year he had grit, he was skating harder, his shot was more accurate and he would take a hit to place himself in a position to be efficient. He was a beast last year. This year he thinks his shot can get through one bad angle, 2 defensemens and the goalies crest. And his penalty last night when the game was tight, WTF was that?! Why did he do that.

He may not be as physical as we want him to be, nor has he been going into traffic either. I'll agree on that. But he was still producing in the month of April, even if you find that his shots were soft.

Yes, Pacioretty hasn't been what we completely expected of him. But he definitely hasn't been nearly as bad as we say he was. What really counts is the result. His production backs him up on that.

Has he been great in his 2 playoff games, no. But he hasn't been terrible during the month of April like you say. 13p in 14 games during April, totaling 6 goals and 7 assists. Could he be better, sure. But he isn't as bad as we make him out to be. I don't expect him to be as good as Crosby or Malkin either.

I don't see Max helping this team win with whatever upperbody injury he is playing with. Bench him until he is healthy and able to play a more physical game.
