I really want to know other's opinions of Max this playoffs.

I know it's his first but he's not built for playoff hockey at the moment and I think he contributes to the majority of floating from his line.

When Desharnais wasn't on Max's line he seemed to skate HARD, hit, and be all over the ice in game 2. I think Desharnais' been pretty bad this series but I feel like playing on a line with Max makes him float and always just try to pass it off to patches.

PATCHES NEVER drives the net like Bourque does. All patches does is take a perimeter shot from the outside.

After all his training this summer I'm very upset at his play so far and I really think him and Desharnais need to be split up or a crazy mofo should be on that line.

That's why the Cole worked so well on that line last year because he was the energy, speed, skating, and hitting.

Anyways I wanna hear other opinions

He's big but plays soft and with no passion. Perimeter player.

If he's not 100%, bench him.

I know he led the team in points but that's completely true and really bugs me about his game as well. Also he never goes in front of the net on the pp but prefers to stay 10 feet from it making it easy for the other team to clear the puck. I just hope something is bothering him and the reason he is playing this way this year, hopefully with that frame he starts driving the net hard again

I believe in sticking with players as much as you can. I believe in Max as well.

That being said, I think he's hurt. He missed game two and didn't participate in the practices. Even when he's not playing great he's better than this.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that if he's healthy, the coach needs to talk to him about improving his game and somehow get him back up to speed.

If he's hurt... bench him. He's not doing himself or us any favours by going out and playing this way.

Perimeter player after perimeter player after perimeter player. Story of montreal's top-6. Bench Pacioretty and give him a wake-up call. As for Desharnais, I would rather see him go than Plekanec, but I think Plekanec would bring better trade value.

he has become a perimeter player, can't blame a guy for playing apprehensively after being hit the way he was by Chara.

he should see a sports psychologist every day over the summer.

He played like a true power-forward last season which was post-Chara.

Coming back early from all of his injuries probably just caught up with him this season not to mention the condensed schedule.

You know, it's weird with Max. The guy was basically useless all season, but still managed almost a PPG.

Totally different player from last year, and he needs to step it up.

No idea what happened to him but he's been awful this season. I hope he's just injured.

I'm definitely thinking it's the injuries but he's almost becoming Gionta-esque lol with all his shots from the perimeter...it's killing plays and it seems Desharnais always tries to get the middle of the ice and pass it to Patches who immediately shoots it from his wing without even approaching the net...

If he starts driving the net more then he opens up room for his other winger and DD and he'll draw penalties and screw up the Senators defensive zone coverage

Patches needs to wake up. Get that fire going and start simple. Finish some checks, throw that big frame around. Buddy needs to get it going. Also get him off the DD line. He's clearly not playing big enough to make room for our shrimp

It's not normal that our teams most intense players are 2 rookies( Gallagher and Galchenyuk ) and Bourque which most even wanted out before the season. I hope Bergevin is taking notes. If your not ready for war come playoff time, time to acquire players that are

He's either hurt or his game has changed and not for the better. A guy his size is useless playing on the perimeter. If he's not 100%, might as well sit him, because he doesn't contribute much in playoff hockey.

has he been playing in the playoffs?

I heard he was a game-time decision in game 3 along with Gionta and I assumed neither played since I didn't notice them . . .

The MaxPac and DD line has become irrelevant a long time ago. I never expect anything from them when they're on the ice. The coaching staff should stop pulling a Gomez with them, i.e. sending them out game after game irrespective of their on-ice-production... They deserve no power-play time and should get only 3rd or 4th line minutes until they find their game.

For his size and talent.. he doesn't get enough criticism for his lack of play.

Game 4 he needs to be participating from the press box he has been brutal.

I still don't get why MT took Halpern out of the lineup, he played great friday. If there's 1 thing I think he did wrong so far in the playoffs is taking Halpern out of the lineup.
