Depends how whacky the offer is.

If it's $12mill x 7 then they'd definitely take 4 1sts from Utah.

If it's $9.5mill x 7 then I'm not sure if they'd want our 2 1sts , a 2nd and a 3rd.

If the compensation is any less than that then they obviously match.
I don't see any team offering $12 mil. I think even 9.5 is a big stretch.

Sign us up!! Odds are they would match or even come after our players but he'll of a lot better than going after Pronget type crap. I like says we aren't dog **** anymore

I don't think Boston wants to do a full rebuild at this moment. They still have Pastrnak, Swayman and McAvoy to kind of head their team for the next couple of seasons and those guys are all in their primes. If Boston was interested in tearing it down completely I'm sure they'd consider it but they probably want NHL ready prospects/young players rather than prospects who are a couple of years away and picks.
With NMCs, they can't do a proper full rebuild. Geekie must be wondering where the Bruins are headed? Traded Marchand Carlo, and Frederic plus missing the playoffs? Being a RFA and 1 year from UFA qualification, does he want to commit long term?

Utah has their Geekie in McBain and Hayton. Utah needs someone much better. Who is the question.

??? Because we have McBain and Hayton, we don't need any more 2-way centers? He currently has 27Gs, the 2 you mentioned never broken 20, but we don't need that? You can call it a fluke, I'll call it a break out season!

You could be right. He's 26 so this year could be a fluke. I would like to target a low end 1C, but who is available is another question.

I want a center that Keller will make look like a #1C. With Keller, Geekie's offensive numbers should be replicated. As far as who is available, can't think of anyone that might be. Geekie has the 1 year to UFA/RFA situation and still hasn't signed a new contract. He may be available if he is only willing to sign for 1 year. The problem is the Bruins may only be willing to make a hockey trade and the ask starts with McBain. Also keep an eye on the Islanders, I could see them trading Noah Dobson for a center and then making Barzal available for a RHD...

Hey, I'm holding out hope that Doan can somehow wrangle a spot out at 2C if they give him a chance. Dude is pretty spectacular ripping pucks away on the half wall and behind the net, so not sure if we want to lose him on the wing, but he seems to have a great stick and thinks the game well...so I'd give him a try.

Didn't they try Doan at C in Tucson for a bit? ASU?

Anways, I thought they tried and decided that wasn't the right path for him. Don't quote me, not sure. Anyone know?

The Jets have the cap space, but it will be interesting to see if Vilardi wants to stay in Winnipeg for a price they are willing to pay. Pionk might be gone in FA and they could be looking for RD help.

Trade for Marchment (Maccelli (50%), NYR ‘26 2nd, and OTT ‘26 2nd).

Sign Frederic (4yrs, 19mil, 4.75aav).

Draft Malcolm Spence.

Give it until next trade deadline and see what happens.

Marchment would be a good add. Why do you want Frederic?

I’d like a 2nd Jack McBain. Another +220lb player that I’d be hoping can get back to his form of last season where he had 40pts (18g 22a) +200hits +7 fights or at least bank on him getting back to the season before (17g 14a). I don’t want to have as many depth players that are small (Carcone) soft (Bjugstad) or small and soft (Maccelli). I want to be harder to play against and more prepared for playoff style hockey. Thus the desire to add Marchment, Frederic, and Spence types to the roster/system.

frederic hasn't been good at all this year, and is injured again. I don't understand the want for that player.
Boston fell to pieces this season and Frederic has been hurt. So which player is he? What we saw this season or what we saw the previous two seasons? He’s only 27 so his final form is not likely what we saw when he was 23.

Wouldn't he be more of the same as what we already have in our bottom 6? I think we should be focused on getting a top 6 centre, as our forward depth is already good.

My wish would be Vilardi on the Jets. I think Bill needs to follow his old boss Doug Armstrong's thinking and give this guy an offer Winnipeg can't match. Adding But and Vilardi next year would bring much needed size to our top 6 and make us harder to play against. Plus Vilardi is the right age for the rebuild. Another low key move I'd love for Bill to make is to sign Vladar in Calgary. Having a Czech tandem would be a cool thing.

I think Maccelli's time is done with Utah and he will be traded, I bet he has success somewhere else. I also think Ingram's time is done in Utah and I would trade him to Edmonton, Calgary, or Winnipeg, who all may need a new backup next year. A fresh start closer to home I think can help Ingram get back on track.

2025-26 Roster

Keller - Cooley - Schmaltz
But - Vilardi - Guenther
Crouse - Hayton - Doan
McBain - Stenlund - Kerfoot
O'brien (sadly I think he is still gonna be the 13th fwd)

Sergachev - Marino
Maatta - Kesselring
Simashev - Durzi
Cole

Vejmelka
Vladar

How does this roster look to everybody? I think that is a team that can make the playoffs next year.

What does Morgan Geekie think about his long-term commitment with the Bruins, RFA, 1year from UFA? If UtHC moves from Crouse, Frederic would be a great replacement! And if the Bruins and Zadorov want a divorce...

Err... would Winnipeg just give Vilardi away?

But hasn't shown he is going to be NHL ready at the start of next season and given BA's propensity to overcook prospects like Doan or Guenther, I really don't see him on the roster full time next season, especially playing top 6 minutes.

What would an offer sheet for Vilardi look like? Would the Jets match on 9m? He hasn't looked out of place playing top line minutes this season and the Jets aren't in cap hell like the Oilers. North of 9.1m, I don't see BA willing to give up 2 first round picks+ for him. The situation probably only happens if Vilardi requests a trade or demands an exorbitant salary to stay in Winnipeg forcing a trade.

Vilardi's pace, at best, is similar to Maccelli and Hayton. He's notably slower than every player Bill has drafted, signed or traded for.

He's a top notch winger, just not the type that Bill is into.
