Probably not as far off as the numbers suggest when you consider the scoring environment and the lack of help Selanne had. I think these two and Bure’s ‘00 are the best per game seasons from ‘94 to ‘07. Still I think Lemieux’s numbers are still too strong here.

Selänne, for doing it in a low-scoring environment with scrubs and largely on even strength. Lemieux was a PP merchant with epic support that year.
