It vindicates those who disagreed with all of these takes:
" Maurice was never the right coach, look at his all time loss record" He's a mediocre coach at best"
I think we know by now that's not the case. He's a great communicater and has proven that he's definitely well above average.
"Ok hes a good coach with a ceiling, but Maurice is the reason Jets won't be able to win a Stanley Cup" We need a better coach to take us there:
Not quite . How long a shelf life a coach has is also up to the players. There's alot of dynamics at play . Maybe the Jets needed "another /new" coach but not a coach who is "better "
It's doesn't invalidate: "Maurice was a good coach for us an can be for another team . But It's time for a change and he needs to go "
If the Jets was given a different group of players I would hire Maurice in an instant . But it was clear, the fit was no longer there.
In a vacuum , Maurice is a great coach with people I.Q that's off the charts .
Alot of angry Jets fans type with their emotions . It's easy to say, "Maurice is horrible , get him out of here". They resist using logic . It's easier to say if something is not working , it's means it's/He's terrible .- it's not quite that simple .
There was a drowned out minority here who measured their response saying not that Maurice is a "bad" coach just that his time was up here. Buts its the "Maurice sucks!" comments that most people notice/bandwagon to and the news media tends to be an echo chamber for that emotional, vocal group .
Equally a bad take would be " Paul Maurice is a great coach. Even if the Jets are losing and the players have tuned him out/fans have been vocal etc, ...we should still keep him no matter what because he's a great coach"
So no it doesn't vindicate those who said we shouldn't have let Maurice go - we should of . Just vindicates those who pushed back against the "he's a bad coach/a team can't win the Cup with him. " crowd . And For reasons I just stated and for the reason many forgot.
And....we actually didn't let him go. He left himself because he knew it was time.
If your unhappy Maurice is not still here, ironically you should be blaming Maurice himself for leaving not True North . You could blame the players for tuning him out , but I chose not too because players tuning coaches out is a professional sports phenomenon. It just happens after time.
