Maurice leads panthers to third straight Final

Neutral fan since the Jets bowed out of the playoffs. I like to know the secret sauce that gotten the panthers and likely oilers going to Stanley cup finals again

I don't care about the H'uile, but the Panthers?

Resilience.

This Cats team is over the top. Down 2 - 0 well into last nights game and they pound two home within 30 seconds of each other.

It doesn't hurt that they have a handful of elite shut down forwards, each with some serious scoring touch.

And Maurice... when the players listen to him, is a difference maker.

Caution: Fruity Sault St Marie verbs can be heard in the following video.

The Oilers have the two best forwards on the planet and have finally surrounded them with some actual depth.

The Panthers have a selke level 1C, a 50 goal winger, vezina level goalie, committed to a defensive structure and committed to hitting everyone and anyone on sight.

It's going to be the age old unstoppable force (Oilers) meets immovable object (Cats). Oilers came within a goal last time. We'll see what happens this time.

Yup, it's really all talent.

Look at how many top picks each team has.

Florida has 3 top 2 picks, and then a 4th and 6th overall. The top pick on the Jets for instance is Scheifele at 7th overall. So 5 players with higher draft pedigree then our best guy. It makes a difference in terms of top talent.

Add in their GM has done a nice job acquiring good depth to surround that talent.

It's going to be hard for the Jets to get that kind of talent without a rebuild.

Confirmed we were the problem 🥲
Maurice hitching the wagon to Wheeler was the problem. Having Barkov as the Captain is a big difference.

With Wheeler as the captain the Jets were too tired fighting with each other to fight the other team. Not even Matt Hendricks could stop the in fighting.... I wish I was being sarcastic. That was a real "solution" the Jets came up with. When your locker room is so bad having Bitetto on the team because he's a good chatty guy on the bench, of course he had to hit the ice once in a while and that was always a disaster. The team couldn't even focus on getting better players when they were just trying to stop the in fighting.

Good for PoMo. He’s a likeable guy. I’d give a healthy amount of credit to Zito for assembling these teams. Getting Bennett, Forsling, Verhaeghe, Marchand, Taresenko, and Montour for basically nothing.

Congrats to Maurice. He’s been in the game a long time, thru the highs and lows.

He stuck with it, and basically kept his philosophy the same, and it’s paying off.

I would be happy for him if he wins another Cup, especially after being raked over the coals, by many posters on here.

He’s a very likeable guy, and too bad he wasn’t able to push the Jets any higher, but he didn’t have the complete skill set you need.

GM has easiest job in the world. Low tax and beach Have players and coaches refusing to sign in Canada and tampering to come to your team, other team's captains coming to u for peanuts, and can sign any free agent you want. Combine this with the rebuild to get barkov, ekblad, etc. And you're living the dream.

Look at how Matthews did his contract. Toronto did it and Matthews pays basically the same taxes as anyone on Florida. Just need your owner to pay a big bonus each year which is taxed where you live

The combination of Maurice & team chemistry is working wonderfully for the Panthers.
I wish it could have happened here, but sometimes all the ingredients do not work out.
Edmonton and Knoblach have the IT factor too.
That’s why those two teams are in the finals again.
You can have a roster of highly talented players for the regular season ( see Toronto/Winnipeg/Carolina ) but if the chemistry isn’t there in the playoffs, you don’t get it done.
As much as I don’t like the Oilers in particular they are a very solid bunch.
Florida are just so balanced throughout their lineup.
Hopefully Maurice gets ring #2
