Just curious what you King fans think about Mattias Norström.

Is Norström considered one of the best Kings d-mans ever?

Did he not bring a nice physical game together with strong defense and good first passes?

I think you'll never find anyone say an ill word about Norstrom. Great dman, fierce, played with pride and led through one of the toughest times in Kings history. Consummate professional and is still tied to the organization. One of my all time favorites, that's for sure. When he was traded it was a sure sign of a rebuild and a new era, but it was also a very, very sad day. Had a very unsung career since the Kings were often terrible under his watch.

Probably not old enough, Dionne walked out from an interview with Bob and Jim in 2012 and only a handful recognized him, imo the greatest King of the 70's and 80's , of course next to Kozak lol

possible just figure he had taylor there why not dionne I remember that interview as well sad He is easily my favourite all time king although not the same star level as ernie hickie lol :sarcasm::laugh:

Can't find anything negative to say about him. He was the captain of the team when I first began to watch hockey and began to follow the Kings. I have a lot of respect for Matty for captaining the team through that harsh period of time.

Normstrom was a beast, but sadly when i think of him I think of a pretty bad era in King's history.

He is one of the best King's of all time, but I was pretty happy when he was traded as it really signaled going for a full blown rebuild.

One of, if not the best deal from McMaster's time as GM. Kurri, McSorley, and Churla for Norstrom, Laperriere, Ferraro, and LaFayette. It's either that or Olczyk for Murray.

We've got a #14 with the "C" authentic hanging in the closet -- the only one we own.

My wife embroidered a silhouette of a spleen on the right sleeve, ala fighter pilot kill markings.

When I think of Norstrom I remember the 7 game series vs the Avs where he beat and pounded on Peter Forsberg so much after the series Forsberg was out with a bruised spleen if I remember right and missed the rest of the playoffs. Him and Doughty as a pair would be very nasty to play against. They could shut down most top lined night in and night out.

This is great. And what comes to mind when I think of Norstrom. He was a stud defensively.

I will never forget the day in Calgary when we are having pictures signed outside and one of my autograph cards blew away. Matias chased it three quarters of a block and retrieved it for me. Not only did he do something that most athletes wouldn't but Blake and Matty stood outside and spoke to us about hockey for 10 minutes in - 25 degree weather.

Down to earth guy, awesome SAH DMan,wish we could clone him and set him next to Doughty. One of my favorites all time
