Matthews in Toronto ending soon?

Can't help but feel the Leafs window has more or less closed now. Might be wrong on that and they surprise next year but I think the best is behind this core.

Assuming they start to falter over the next 1-2 years of course Matthews is getting moved.

I probably wouldn't want to be the team acquiring him because I don't think he'll age well. If he has back issues at 27, imagine how they're going to be when he's 30+.

You’re probably right unless Tre can pull a rabbit or two out of his hat

You never know. Their goaltending and defense is cup contending. Their forward group lacks quality depth. In the playoffs they never get depth scoring outside of Domi and Patch. The rest offered little to nothing .

I disagree. And the parts they get back for him I’m sure won’t just be useless plugs.

You have been a poster here since 2013, I have to assume you remember the drought of a #1C from Sundin's decline to drafting Matthews? It's impossible to find a #2 C nvm an elite #1C. Matthews has officially become the most under rated player in the NHL.

People tripping over themselves to brag up Marner and Tavares when it seems they might leave when neither can hold Matthews jock when he is going which is 90% of the time

I highly doubt they would trade for assets. It would have to be for some quality return to make it worthwhile. Maybe to upgrade defense and quality center who's younger but puts up points

The Leafs are a perennial play off team with him

This is something the majority of the league can only dream about

Salty folks trying to gaslight us that having a superstar center who does it all is a bad thing. People tripping over themselves to get Marner and saying how good he is meanwhile saying Matthews sucks who is better.

These same folks would be drooling watching Matthews on their team

I'd take him at a more reasonable price. Is there any news about the state of his health and what was nagging him all year?

You had to know there would be fallout from reminding everyone on the site every single day about how much confidence you had in the team, and how -this- was the year.

You reap what you sow.

I said all year they had to prove it in the playoffs.

Also I was right that they destroyed the Sens. Couldn't hold the Leafs jock lmao

Your hyperbole isn't going to get a rise out of me, friend.

Matthews would be the best player in your franchises history AINEC

In his current state? Not even close.

Alfredsson led the NHL playoffs in goals and points BTW. Can you imagine if Matthews rose to that occasion?

Karlsson led a team all the way to Game 7 of the ECFs in much the same manner as Doug Gilmour did for the Leafs and is still revered to this day for it.

HIs current state lmao. 1 year removed from almost 70 goals and still put up a 100 point pace this year despite being injured.
