Prospect Info: Matthew Wood - RW | 15th Overall | 2023 NHL Draft

How does that work with the AHL? Since he was just signed, he can go down right?
No. He can only play in nhl this season. College draft picks like Wood can sign ELC starting following season and then play in AHL on ATO but NOT NHL or they can sign ELC starting current season like he did but then are NOT able to play in AHL (until following season).

I would be surprised if he plays tonight, but with all the injuries...who knows

We have 14 forwards on the roster including wood, sissons, and marchy. With sissons and marchy out, that drops us down to 12. It doesn't mean we don't do something stupid like run 7 dmen when our 6 and 7 dmen would be Oesterle and englund but it does lend the possibility that Wood gets a full 6 mins of TOI tonight

Depressingly but maybe predictably, they have done just that

Yeah he would go from a student visa to a work visa which has different parameters for being issued. I believe it also requires some from of identification for tax purposes to be created as well.
