Benning just confirmed that Canucks will pick either one, Dubois has 1C potential and Tkachuk has 1LW potential.

Which one do you prefer?

I'm leaning towards Tkachuk, he plays a rockstar game, is a bit cocky, and produces at every level he has played in so far. He is very marketable and a top line of Tkachuk-Horvat-Boeser would be amazing in theory.

There aren't many draft eligble players, let alone 1st overalls, that have produced his numbers he has put up this year.

2.36 PPG in the playoffs is unheard of.

Tkachuk is a **** disturber. I love that aspect.

I go with him. Hard tho. Dub was my pick before lottery

I actually get anxious thinking of having to pick one or the other. I'd pick Dubois, but I might hate myself in the morning.

Edler+33rd for the 4th and draft both.

Can we make this a poll?

Both are great prospects. Inherently Centre is a more valuable position than LW and I think you make the pick based on if you believe you already have a player that can become a true 1C in the future if he is playing with Tkachuk.

Tkachuk - Horvat - Boeser
Baertschi - McCann - Virtanen

or do

Baertschi - Dubois - Boeser
??? - Horvat - Virtanen

I think Tkachuk is the way to go because he fills a need going forward.

Dubois. Skill-wise they aren't that far off from each other, but Dubois is bigger and more versatile.

Gonna re-post this.

Looking at every single goal Tkachuk has scored in these playoffs.

Goal distribution

Deflection goal :3
Shot goal: 3
Tap in goal:5
Empty net goal:3
Rebound goal:2

Not one you could classify as a "snipe" he is the definition of dirty goals. I still think hes more of a playmaker than a goal scorer.

Best NHL comparison for goal scoring. Zach Parise. Looks almost identical the way they score goals. Remember Parise vs Canada 2010 olympic tying goal. Tkachuk loves those kind of goals. Dont think ONE of those goals were above the face off dot. MAYBE one.

Tkachuk has the higher floor. Dubois has the higher ceiling. Tkachuk will never dominate a game. He will play hard and work hard to score dirty goals. A disturber. Parise/Hartnell mix. Some people say Corey Perry but Perry is more dynamic and more of a shooter.

I'm curious, guys, what's the source for this? Team 1040 interview? It is, obviously, of great interest to Flames fans. :)

Wasn't Dubois converted to a centre this year? So sounds like he can also play wing.

I worry about getting excited about Tkachuk's playoff run, since he is playing on a great line with lots of talent. All three are running over the opposition, and while I am not saying it is just because of his linemates. But it has to help pad those stats.

Tkachuk would look good on Horvat's wing...

So would Dubois.

Really, it's hard to go wrong either way. Both great prospects. For me, it's Dubois by a little bit. A bit bigger, a better skater, a bit more dynamic. I see Dubois as a winger at the NHL level, but the outside chance of at least trying to develop him as a Center is a little bit of value-added as well.

But it's close, and i really wouldn't be upset either way.

I'm flip flopping between the two.

Love both of them. Dubois is enticing because he can play centre. And is young. He could easily become one of the three best players in the draft.

tkachuk plays such a playoff type game. And who cares if he's benefiting from marner. He can benefit from our players too.

I dunno what it is.. I just have a gut feeling we will regret not taking tkachuk. I just think he's gonna be an impact player
