Of all the players, why? Also, why didn’t the NHL do this during the 2 day game break during the 4 Nations?
Because he’s very comfortable and well spoken while being interviewed. It’s a US tv show talking about 4nations tourney and he’s a big part of the US team, whose NHL team is also in the US (not to mention being out while injured and available to come on the show). The side story of playing on the team with his brother, and his dad being a famous US player. Plus, his team won the Cup last summer.
Not really that hard to understand why it was him of all the players

I thought the 4 nations would be completely boring and irrelevant for hockey but i was just soo wrong lmao.

10 million Americans watched the last game, the US president got involved, Tkatchuk gets invited to Jimmy Fallon...

All they need now is Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless having heated debates about their favorite player.

G-d forbid a hockey player shows some personality, and is good with the media.

Nah, it’s clearly better to be a perpetual sourpuss like McDavid/MacK, or a weird robot like Makar/Crosby 🙄

That tournament had a lot more attention than I expected and a lot of Americans were invested in it. Not gonna lie, as a Canadian, a (very) small part of me would have liked to see the US win that final for the good of the game.

Tkachuk seems like a good dude. Watched him on spittin chiclets too and he is surprisingly down to earth. Not at all like his on ice persona. Nice to see hockey get some mainstream attention.

That ended long ago.

Hockey won't get the air time on those types of shows because there isn't anything interesting to talk about. The Rantanen deal was huge, but pales in comparison to the NBA moves (even if you exclude Luka).

Hockey players don't have the same drama that NBA players do. Pretty much go out and play.

Maybe 10+ years ago this would have been a big deal...but do people even watch late night talk show hosts anymore?
I also don't watch late night much anymore (especially since cutting the cable) but isn't it crazy how not everyone watches everything?!
That's probably the reason why hockey isn't more popular!

Get over it.

The whole interview

I'm sad because I would have watched the Tkachuk interview but Fallon is just so grating with his vapid 90s surfer bro personality. Made it to a minute of the video. Definitely wish another host had him on, maybe he makes the rounds on a couple of the other shows while he's out injured.

The View, maybe? :sarcasm:
