[Matthew Tkachuk] Leafs would be unbelievable if the team wasn't in Toronto

You can blame whoever you want for it, the fact still remains that the Leafs fanbase is different than those other teams because Leaf fans hate their own team. The justification behind the hate might change depending on the players, but it comes down to the team has sucked for 60 years despite having the advantages of the deepest pockets and being an O6 team with a passionate fanbase.

They hate them because they lose every year, that's the real reason.
No, I don't.

Pressure in New York and Boston is just as high yet they haven't had problems bringing championships in other sports to those cities in past decades.
Well like I said...apparently hockey players are p***yes compared to the other sports. Granted the salaries are much higher, I don't think I've seen Lebron complain that he gets too much attention. Dunno how he gets out of bed each day. The world is so scary!

Imagine if you win in a rabid hockey market though. Then you are royalty forever

If the Oilers win the Cup the celebration will eclipse any Stanley Cup celebration in the last 30 years. It will be even bigger than Detroit, Chicago, and Boston breaking their droughts, since this will be breaking a 30+ year drought for an entire country.

Hockey players just have a choice. That makes it different than other sports in NA. The other sports are all based in the US with exception of 2 teams in Toronto.

Hockey is unique in that 7 teams have normal major league sport pressure, and the other locations are cakewalks.

Does anyone still think tkachuk isn’t supremely jealous of the attention players in Toronto get?

You really want me to believe this is the level of recognition a star hockey player needs in order to perform?

Lol
I’m beginning to feel with the wayMatthew talks in the media that he is in fact jealous of the attention other teams get. He seems to run to any mic. That’s near by and has no issue spouting bullshit then retreating behind the “too much attention” when he gets called out, much like his on ice play, he’s a rat, but he can’t physically back it up on his own, he can’t defend himself against people that push back. He’ll beat you up for your lunch money, but if you stand your ground, you’ll end up with his lunch money.

He is a great hockey player, but he really does seem to get tossed around. He’s a Marchand lite, but physically weaker. I have no respect for him as a player. He’s a guy that get stirred though, not a guy that stirs the drink. He couldn’t hack it in Calgary, he walked himself into a good position in Florida for sure though.

the point is that it shouldn't effect them at all. Should be a non issue. And if every market had the same engagement as the Toronto market, idiots like Tkachuck would be making a salary closer to what Lebron makes. Because you know...the league has revenue sharing?

So advocating for LESS fan engagement is what makes Tkachuk look like a complete idiot. And embarrassment to pro hockey players in general if this is a popular narrative mostly spoken on planes and parties and the like of which we see show itself when most if not all Canadian teams are not options for most hockey players who can pick and choose.
