Matthew Tkachuk is the 2nd slowest forward in the league

Corey Perry is playing great but how is it possible that he is not dominating this, the human eye can barely detect when he is moving.

Pat Maroon moved like an oil tanker even when he was in his prime; I'm not surprised he's the overwhelming leader in the clubhouse approaching 40.

Brock Bouser doesn't make any of the slow lists. This calls into question his skating deficiency. It's a long list and he ain't on it

Because he'll get slower? Kind of confused if it's a trait he's already not relying on, it's not like it's something he'll need to reinvent his game to adjust for if he did have elite skating

You missed the part where he’s based on the movie Speed, and if he doesn’t turbo or whatever he explodes.

Tkachuk is still a superstar.

The real loser here is Rasmus Kupari. Imagine being faster than Mackinnon and McDavid and having 8 points.
That's actually pretty crazy how Kupari can't be more effective with that kind of skating. Iirc he has solid hands as well.

Everyone pointing out that Tkachuk isn't that slow its just that he doesn't skate at full speed that often, why are you ignoring the list of top speed where he was also second last?

Top speed isn’t what’s important, it’s bursts. I remember when I played, I could really fly once I got going but I had a bad first few steps and my agility left some to be desired. That’s why bursts are more important. There’s dudes who probably couldn’t get going as fast as I could but were much better and more effective skaters

I honestly had no idea. He might not be the best player to target on an 8 year deal when he's 30+

While we are at it, look at the top speed players. Stamkos at #5 ???

I mean, if he's already slow, doesn't that pretty much mean that he'll be effective regardless of speed? That should be good for his longevity.

It's the guys who rely on speed who will struggle when they start slowing down.

Who pushed Trocheck from behind?

Back to Tkachuk, he might not be the slowest in terms of consistent forechecking and skating speed, but doesn't get that burst or top speed other players seem to get.

If nobody noticed how slow he is, it's probably not affecting his game much and he makes it up with his IQ. Not worried about him.

If it makes you feel better, marner is on the fastest list for a top 25 single burst, but he's also on the bottom 25 slowest list for fewest 18+ bursts per 60.
Marner is an East-West player. Hes rarely going to take the puck and come blasting up the ice with it like a Mack or McDavid do. He can turn on the burners if its needed, but when he has the puck, hes going to slow things down.
