He didn't look bad after the hit, they made him leave the bench. That hit though, first he gets it in the front of the head, then back when he falls to the ice, pretty scary.
The camera was moving when Benoit jumped in but it looked like Knies was wobbly at the very beginning. Unless my mind was who knows where lol.

Coach thinks the hit was clean: Simon Benoit blasts hit on Matthew Knies as Maple Leafs await update; Auston Matthews ‘improving’ | TSN

Head coach Craig Berube took a bit of a different tune when asked about the hit, calling it clean.

"It’s a hockey hit. It’s been around forever… It’s a clean hit. It’s a tough play. He's in a vulnerable position a little bit. The guy was on him from behind and it's a tough play. It is, but it’s hockey. That’s part of the game."

I agree with Berube.

He's right. At the very least, it's a two minute minor for charging because he jumped into the check to hit Knies. It's weird to not get that. It was not like Reaves' hit, I don't think, but it's still a penalty. The fact he hit him square in the head because he left his feet should mean something, too, but I'm not shocked there's no supplemental discipline on it.

Assuming he was concussed, that would be his third concussion and he's not even 23?
Was the injury against Bennett in the Florida series not also a concussion?
yes his third, and i mentioned this in the game day thread that he needs more situational awareness and to learn how to avoid avoidable hits at his age and size. i forgot who the player is with all the talent and potential in the world, but could not stop getting concussed. Taylor Hall maybe...

North!
ah who cares about a suspension for whitecloud the leafs got the win! its all ok to take headshots at leafs players so they shorten there careers, with no repercussions from the DOPS, who cares who takes liberty on the leafs players.... especially if we only play them twice a year! DOPS is a complete joke

Well the fact he’s already been labeled as out for Sunday is extremely concerning. How the f*** do you know someone can’t play in 3 days?

This season has been a f***ing disaster with injuries.
Now down 7 regular forwards. Insane

I don't. He left his feet and I don't believe it was due to impact.

What goes around will come around.

The last thing I’ll say about this hit was that Whitecloud knew what he was doing. He could’ve hit Knies square on through the chest, but he didn’t. He made sure he elevated as he hit him to catch his head and knock him out. It was predatory and it was retaliatory because Vegas were still soiling their diapers about the non boarding call that Grebenkin laid on Theodore (who finished the game and won’t miss any time, so the vengeance acted out wasn’t even proportional).

By the leagues rules it’s not deserving of a penalty or supplemental discipline. Fine. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t dirty. f*** Whitecloud, f*** Vegas, f*** Parros, and f*** the league.
