Yeah, one of their players for sure.Brought to you by the leafs FO.

Every player says they won’t and then they do at some point. It’s always funny to me when blokes pretend it won’t. I mean Sakic did and they made some dumb show up about it. There’s always a good number and another number that they deem insulting. It depends on how close the leafs get to either of them before that reality hits.Sure, he might become interested at any point. Also, there is definitely a number that the Leafs won't match.
Not every player does that. They are just not locked into something they have said months beforehand.Every player says they won’t and then they do at some point. I have (I actually prefer CapWages), their cap hit right now is $88.6. Both Tavares and Marner are UFA, so let's just say that Marner makes $3 Million more on the cap, and Tavares $3 Million less, they offset. McCabe's Cap hit goes up $2.5 Million next year, so you're now at $91 Million. Woll's cap hit goes up almost $3 Million, you're now at $94 Million. How do you fit Knies into next year's $95.5 Cap, will he accept $1.5 Million, absolutely not, in fact he could easily be offer sheeted at $8 Million Per Year if they're not careful. Tavares is as good as gone, but problem is I think Marner wants out of Toronto market, so Shanahan had better think quick (No I don't think it's Treliving pulling the strings), or he will lose both of them. You can in theory easily sign all 3. Go to puckpedia.
Sure…. But no one is dumb enough to give him 11 million a year so yeah….If someone came up to him and said they would give him 11 million, yes he would entertain a offersheet lol

No one will take Kampf/Domi/Jarnkrok long term contracts, so even if you cut them their cap hit will be over $5 Million. As a Habs fan, I'll take Tavares as my #2 Center for 2 years @ $8 Million, we have plenty of room and he would be a great mentor for the young guns in Montreal. Do you not remember when he said he's absolutely not leaving Long Island? It's not possible to keep all 3, you have to be realistic. They have 27 million to spend on 3 forwards.
They have their 6 d. 2g 9/12 f
They have went in to multiple years with 20 man rosters. So they would if they had to.
Even if. You plug in
Marner. 14
Tavares. 8
Knies 8.
You are only 3 million over.
You can easily get rid of 2 of domi/jarnkrok/kampf and fill in with 3 one million or less players.
Holmberg/lorentz/robertson
Would probably be around 1 million.
They also have Cowan/quillan/steeves etc.
Of course it’s not ideal to lose domi. But they played without Jarnkrok all year. And Kampf is easily replaceable.
also it’s incredibly unlikely JT gets 8.
He has already said he has made enough money and all the insiders (whose job it is to increase leaf salary demands) are saying 6
knies. Matthews. Marner
Mcman. Tavares. Nylander
Robertson. Laughton Cowan.
Lorentz. Holmberg. Jarnkrok/kampf
Isn’t terrible.

ironic considering going into next season Montreal has 9.59 mil in cap space vs Toronto with 27.49 mil.Montreal should slap down a 5 x 9M offer.
Price counts as 10.5M in your number. Montreal has about 21M while the leafs have Marner and Tavares to sign.ironic considering going into next season Montreal has 9.59 mil in cap space vs Toronto with 27.49 mil.
Hineman and Dobes need contracts, and will lower that 9.59 a fair bit ...someone may offer sheet Dobes, as his play has been good, and he's young, and MTL would be in a hard spot to match
The Leafs RFA's that could be easy to target are Robertson and Holmberg, and the Leafs would likely just take the picks.
yea... and it will be interesting if they sign one, both, or neither. if they dont sign one, they can take a run at Ekblad to strengthen themselves while weaking Florida ...but, with Leafs luck, then they will turn around and sign Marner, and he'll become a power forward. lolPrice counts as 10.5M in your number. Not actively pursuing doesn't mean he wouldn't consider if negotiations were to stall out. Players rarely "actively pursue" offer sheets. It's pretty rare to see them signed. No idea why Montreal was so keen to offer one to Aho when it was obviously going to get matched.Dumb. Maximize your earnings. If that means signing an offer sheet that Toronto has to match, then so be it.
When does a 60 point power forward get 10 million plus?If Knies goes 8 years...it's double digit millions for AAV. I expect a 5 year 8-9M or 8 year 10-11M
He's having a great year. What happens if he tops out at 50 points. The money people are talking about is ridiculous. Is this supposed to be a dig? Most Leaf fans would rejoice at this. Would be a steal by year 3
He's not a superstar in the Matthews / Marner sense but every single GM obsessed with size and grit would be salivating adding him to their team. Big strong man with high IQ and soft hands who enjoys when the game gets choppy. Wet dream for most GMs

8x8 is absolutely fine for him. People talking 10-11 million is crazy. And you're right he does bring more than just points. But those extra don't get him double digit numbers.in 2-3 seasons 2nd liners are making 8M. Knies brings so much more outside of points
Probably this offseason, because it's not just 60 points...it's 30+ goals in his 2nd full season. And it's Toronto who always overpays it's FA's.When does a 60 point power forward get 10 million plus?

He isn't a 2C so no thanks.Montreal should slap down a 5 x 9M offer.
