A Matthew night for the leafs.
Trick for Knies.
Austin doing perfectly fine. The way he bolted after the puck and dove onto all fours to poke it in to an empty net! Nothing wrong with that guy.

Just shows how much of a warrior he is diving like that while still injured (which we know is a fact given Berube said so in the scrum after the game last night).

Thankfully because we know that we can stop unfounded conspiracies and appreciate a guy not close to 100% still being a superstar in the league.

I’ll bet anyone $6 that Knies will be the best leaf this post season, regardless of how healthy the more marquee players are, and that he will become the favourite leaf player for many of their fans, even ahead of the marquee players.

Knies is already by far my favorite Leaf. He plays the game how I imagined myself playing for the Leafs

Berube is perfect coach for him at the perfect time in the young forwards career.

There is another reality where Shanahan doesn't block Dubas from trading Knies for Fleury + Hagel and Leaf fans are ashamed of Knies breaking out on another team

There's like five different rumours about that supposed trade that people tell depending on which guy they like. Mirtle reported that Shanahan had blocked some trades. This proposal leaked from Chicago and people sort of just decided this was one he blocked. Friedman and others reported that both Shanahan and Dubas thought it was a nonstarter and effectively laughed it off.

But also while I'm very happy they didn't trade him away... it's not like the Leafs wouldn't be extremely happy with Brandon Hagel right now...

Congrats on the hat trick.

But that tip, Zadorov let him go for a free skate to the net after whatever happened and Knies tried to get a call. Then McAvoy gives the puck to Matthews. Nice tip, but shouldn’t have been left open like that in the slot.

2nd goal. Soft Carlo. Dude sucks. Nice move tho. Swayman should have saved that also if he thinks he’s an $million goalie

3rd goal, was mostly Matthews winning a battle against McAvoy and finding Knies in the slot. Wide open. Again.

Knies was feeling it & Congrats on the hatty, but the Bruins suck, so not sure it counts ;)

He seems to always be a thorn in the side of the Bruins
Did you know if you play Game 7 of the 2019 SCF at exactly 8:55 PM, Brad Marchand will cry right as the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve.

Start off your new year right!

Didn't see the scrum but he looked pretty healthy last night

You can say the same about any of those game 7 Leafs collapses as well? Not sure what the point of that is?

Whole Bruins season could be summed up with a Marchand crying gif anyway.

Wasn’t trying to take away anything on the kids first hatty & Knies had himself a game. He’s a player.

Bruins left him wide open way too much with dumb plays, turnovers & bad coverage.

McAvoy got the 2nd assist on his tip goal from Matthews. Maybe even his third goal from the slot. (But, credit to Matthews on the forecheck to create the turnover I guess on this one)

Have to think some GM may offer sheet him come July since Marner and Tavares need new deals and both latter are likely to stay and chew up a lot of cap space Toronto has left.

What offersheet would it have to be for Toronto to not match? Like 8-9M a year?

Could you imagine that? Kyle has pulled some dumbass moves, but that trade would've been an absolute loser.
Knies is more of a player we need but lets not pretend that Fleury and Hagel would have been a bad return Fleury is pretty old now but Hagel has been great as well, I'm pretty happy we didnt trade Knies but having Hagel wouldn't have been so bad either

Ya if it gets into the 8 territory then it could be a problem for Toronto.

24-26 million in cap space with 26/50 contracts on books for next year or longer.

Marner alone may be $13 million per.
Tavares is at least $6 million range no?
Toronto could trade out Kampf or Jarnkrok.

Is my math somewhat accurate?
Using both capwages and puckpedia for info.

Hope is Tavares come in a good bit under 6 I would think. Maybe some money deferrals like the Vatrano contract to bring the AAV down. But yes Kampf and Jarnkrok will likely be moved. I highly doubt an offer sheet becomes an actual thing.

What's a good bit though?
500k? A million?
If so, the term may be 4-5 years.

Look to Kopitar's 2 x $7 million.
Last 3 years, he's basically tied in points per game with Tavares.

Tavares scores more goals but plays 2 minutes less per game but also 3 years younger.

I think Tavares gets 3 years x $6.5 million and most of it in signing bonus.
