If I am him, im taking a 2/3 year deal and then hitting a home run next contract

He can hit that home run now on a long term deal. How bad could a front loaded 9m x 8 years be for him? I think his camp would have used Nylander’s rfa deal as their comparable. It’s all about internal comparables in Toronto. If I’m not mistaken, Nylander’s rfa deal would equate to about 9m x 6 years. I wouldn’t surprised if Knies deal is very similar.

He’s 22 years old on a rookie deal and you’re finding ways to diminish him. Theres just helluva lot going on here.

Anything to protect his glorious king Mitchell Marner. Apparently comparing the two players is a fair comparison, Even though one has 7 years more NHL experience and makes 10x the salary.
