Player Discussion Matthew Knies | Built for the Playoffs

Did we even watch the games or? Knies was hurt, missed most of his shifts, could barely move out there on the 4th line, then came back and played the rest of the series.

Pretty clear reason his production fell
And his line mates can’t keep up in that type of game. He was hobbled, but was a still a step ahead of them.

Sounds like he shouldn't have played.

You can just use the games he wasn't injured in.

3 games, 0 points, and a -8.

His linemates outproduced him significantly.

I wish our core had an ounce of his passion future captain .
I want all our young players to follow his lead.

Sorry but if someone watched Knies this year and in the playoffs and came away unimpressed, safe to disregard their opinion

5 goals in 13 games for Knies is excellent
:)

With 5 goals in his 3rd playoffs, Knies has surpassed Marner, tied Tavares/Matthews and is 1 shy of beating Nylander's all time single playoff goal record. A true beast.
Knies Hyman Matthews would be a great playoff line.

I was pretty firmly against extending Hyman at the sort of term that he was wanting / ended up getting.

I look pretty stupid now.
It is hard to imagine Hyman's growth as a player .. i still remember him as an atom in gthl .. to see how hard that kid worked and still works it is nothing short of a warrior .. his passion for da game is unsurpassed .. his passion for skill self improvement is unsurpassed .. he is da center piece epitome of a manufactured hockey player .. anyone who tells me it can't be done .. i say look at Zach

True, but you didn't really even need Hyman to grow.

In his final 94 games as a Leaf:
  • 36 goals
  • 34 assists
  • 70 points.
If he carried on that same production, at $5.5M, that's still fantastic value.

it wasn't hard to sign him. I felt he could have been an injury risk.
but you don't let go of heart and soul players.
Dubas sucks.
what a loser .org

Yep da priorities of Dumbass were all wrong .. keep all da warriors like Marchment, Verhaege, Kadri, Hyman and Brown and we'd likely have a Cup by now with 4 line depth .. but we signed too many prima donnas to ridiculous prices

Knies Matty Verheage
Marchment Kadri Willy
McMannn Marner Hyman

Some people deny this completely and say it's all McDavid.

Hyman is a huge loss for Edmonton in this cup finals.

While player(s) like Corey Perry are picking up some of the slack the Oilers really miss the tenacious Hyman for his physical play and net front presence 5v5 and PP.

Zach still leads the 2025 playoffs in hits despite not playing in the finals.

Hyman had 16 goals last year in the playoffs which would rival the type of playoffs Bennett is having for the Panthers this year.

Kappy and Brownie on 4th line too with Scott Laughton .. folks that is a Cup winning lineup ,, if not enough money to sign Mitch then fine unload him for picks for future and insert Domi .. still a Cup winning lineup .. now we got older guys who are at end of da rope .. very very very poor management by Shanny and Dumbass
