Better to take a chance on a younger guy on projection for 7 years than give a UFA like Boeser seven years. Good to hit on a mid first round pick which keeps you away from trying to fill that spot in free agency or trade.

Yeah there is definitely an argument for both sides (bridge because of the injuries v long term gamble that he'll be healthy and improve).

Yeah, I think 7 years is good for both sides, he'll be 29 instead of 30 so if he is still a good player we can pay him when he is 36 opposed to 37 (if we go 8 years then), but this is years away so no need to dwell.
