Flames don't have the cap space to take on Read without sending a contract back

They also don't have the cap space to call up anyone from the AHL right now

They could just LTIR Smid and send down whichever forward Read replaces and have more than enough room...

Don't really want Read, but cant the Flames just stick Smid on LTIR to get some space. It seems unlikely he's going to play any time soon - if ever.

Really depends on the price. We don't have really much of an excess of talent at any position. I would give up probably a second with a small plus.

Done deal. Just a 2nd gets it done.

Flyers are loaded on the wings and have additional prospects ready to graduate next season like Oskar Lindblom (tearing up SHL). Plus we won't be able to protect Read in the expansion draft anyway.
