Matt Murray has done the impossible and escaped Robidas Island. Will play first NHL game since 2023.

All jokes aside, pretty remarkable recovery story here. Murray underwent double hip surgery and detailed some of his struggles of recovery, including missing the entirety of last season to recovery.

“I’ve dealt with hip pain going back to as far as Wilkes-Barre when I was like 20 or 21,” he recounted. “It just got to a point where it was starting to mess up everything else. I was starting to get low back issues, starting to pull my groin a lot, and starting to get a lot of ankle stuff.”

He has a .935sv% and 1.85GAA in 8 games with the Marlies this season. Really happy for him.

Better make sure those net moorings are drilled in extra deep
Buffalo doesn't go to the net, so any nets off the moorings will be a little obviously self-inflicted. Hope Matt can save Tage Thompson one timers from the hashmarks. That is the only play we have had for about 3 years now.

The crowd should be about 80% Leafs fans, and probably more electric than a normal Leafs home game.

It's always nice to hear the Sabres get booed in their own building

Leafs probably made the promise last year to give him an opportunity after they didn't reactivate him in March last year. He would have been available for the playoffs. It was definitely cap circumventing....

Hope he does well.

He was fantastic in Pittsburgh in those playoff runs. He's had a lot of bad luck healthwise since then. He's still pretty young, if he can finally stay healthy, maybe he can rebound into a decent #1 goalie.
