This might be just what the doctor ordered, no pun intended, as such unexpected goalie changes force the team to focus on their details on defense to support him.

I know that Berube is aware that in spite of the Leafs winning, they are not playing the right way enough. They would face a battle if the playoffs started tomorrow (unless their goalies are lights out every period). The bad habits and the poor effort is sneaking in again and they have relied on their goalie to bail them out.

Take last nights game against Dallas. Down 2-1 and they give up a breakaway. If Woll doesn't make the save and it is 3-1, Leafs chances go down significantly as Dallas can tighten up with comfort in a two goal lead. Instead, Leafs strike back quickly and win due to some very fortuitous shooting.

Sad for us that we need to be the team giving him the chance
I don’t see it the same way. Matt Murray is a solid third option. He’s got the best stats of the three Marlies goalies, he’s a veteran with two Stanley Cups, and he brings valuable experience.

Health is obviously the big question. If he stays healthy, he’s a great safety net. If not, we’ve got the two kids on the Marlies, who both have potential. For now, it’s better for their development to be getting reps in the AHL.

It can never be a bad thing having a goalie that won 2 cups in the room and around the guys.

Come playoffs he should be at every practice and you never know he may play so well he could be right in the mix for games

If he plays lights out how can you say no to playing him. You are trying to win a championship and go with the guy that is winning. Plus he is a proven winner.

This is either going to go incredibly well or incredibly poor. No in between.

I think it'll actually work out fine. Make sure Woll doesn't see massive increase in play time during Stolarz's absence and use Murray, Hildeby and Akhtyamov in some kind of rotation.

So, let's hope Murray plays well, he certainly has earned it, and kudos for him to work so hard to get back to this point after what he's been through.

Hopefully Murray and Woll can stay healthy until Stolarz returns.

So once Stolarz returns, the question becomes, what happens with Murray? Surely if he plays well he won't make it through waivers.....

I'm rooting for him. If he can do what Martin Jones did for us last season that would be a huge win.

He doesn't have to do what Martin Jones did. We still have Woll.

Also, where does it say that Murray is starting against Buffalo? I have not seen that confirmed anywhere. I still think Woll should start, but hey I ain't the coach

He did GM Treliving and the Leafs a HUGE solid and favour last year when he agreed to sit out the entire year on LTIR, while collecting his full $8 mil salary.

MM was a bitter poison pill left behind by the previous management.

Now making league minimum $875k as a reward Treliving re-signed him to give him another opportunity to play in the NHL again.

"You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours", :wg:

Really nothing to lose a but a few regulation games now.

It's pretty unsettling. Hopefuly Woll's health continues to improve but every time there's a crowd in front of the net I get nervous
And everytime Murray laces up his skates we call for an ambulance.
I guess he is the old toy from past Xmas that we glued back together so we need to find out if the glue holds and he can still be fun to play with.

I bet it goes incredibly in between. Acceptable, but no threat to Stolarz or Woll.

If he plays well, he won't make it through waives once Stolarz returns. But on the bright side, it just means they can flip him for picks since he will have shown he is NHL ready.
keep him and waive Kampf
