Kessel has been one of the few bright spots this season. Very impressed, so far.

Is he related to Phil?Kessel has been solid. Neighbors has been great. Bolduc doesn’t look out of place and doesn’t float. I would say the way we develop our kids seems to have a pretty solid track record.
gf/60 at even strengthDude already has more NHL goals than self-proclaimed offensive defenseman "Scorrin Scott" Perunovich.
True. I'd still take Kessel over Perunovich without hesitation.gf/60 at even strength
perunovich 3.1, kessel 1.7
so the team produces more offense when perunovich is on the ice

Obviously at this point Kessel for the sheer fact that he appears to be able to handle 17+ minutes a night and hasn't had an injury that I can remember. You are the GM of the GM of the team - who are you taking: Kessel or Perunovich?
it depends upon team needsYou are the GM of the GM of the team - who are you taking: Kessel or Perunovich?
The post really did not imply that at all. It was merely pointing out the hilarity that Perunovich still hasn’t scored a goal, when everyone else has. Even Tyler Tucker has already scored twice.it depends upon team needs
if I need a 5/6 who can be a pp qb then perunovich, if I need a 5/6 who can pk and move up at times and play defensive minutes then kessel
if I need a guy that plays all situations 25 minutes a night then neither
the quote I replied to was implying that just because kessel has a goal he must somehow be better offensively which isn’t remotely true
and as they are both rookies ask me again in 5 years
You are the GM of the GM [sic] of the team - who are you taking: Kessel or Perunovich?
That's ... not how this works. You don't get 5 years to decide who you're taking today.and as they are both rookies ask me again in 5 years
if you are counting on either to have key role you've already lost. i do think they could potentially make interesting 3rd pair though. That's ... not how this works. You don't get 5 years to decide who you're taking today.
This isn't a beauty pageant, no one's keeping score, no one's dragging this thread up in 5 years zomg, look who _____ wanted, lolerzzz111!!?>WFZTQBT! Make whatever assumptions you want about what the team's needs are, then tell us which one guy - either Matt Kessel or Scott Perunovich - you're taking for the Blues roster if you're the Blues GM.

Kessel has actually played 158 games as a pro and Perunovich has played 109I am taking Kessel for a couple of reasons. Personally, I don't think it is all that close
1. Age. He is younger by 2 years.
2. Size: Yes this is a major issue - because Peru, for all of his offense - can't complete down low, which is necessary for a defensive player.
3. Injury history. Peru has been injured multiple times over the past two seasons... Again, this is a size issue.
4. Offense - at 5v5 the production is pretty darn close when taking into account number of games played. Also, Kessel was very offensive in college. It didn't just go away, he had to work on the d side is
5. I think Kessel is a solid #4 at this point and likely a #4 on a contender. I don't see Peru anything offensive playermore than a PPQB playing as a 5, but a 6 on a contender.
As a shorter person, I always root for the small guy. But his size is a big issue when playing D. I think he should transition to forward and then play the point on the PP.

at even strength Perunovich gf/60 is 3.1 and Kessel is at 1.7 and Perunovich gets a point about every 3rd game and Kessel about every 6th game
both of these match my eye test that perunovich is a clearly better offensive player which goes back to my point about teams needs would dictate who I would rather have
and I wouldn’t mind them as a 5/6 pair if Krug were to be replaced by better all around LD

+0.3 vs -0.1 net goal differential per 60 does add up.ga/60 at even strength
Perunovich 2.8
Kessel 1.8
Not sure the increased offense really makes up for that.
well, considering how short he is i'd say peru has huge room for growth, which he will need to do if he is going to be good defensive player.+0.3 vs -0.1 net goal differential per 60 does add up.
That said, I think I’d pick Kessel as I think he has more room for growth than Perunovich has.
However, it’s not a bad thing to have both on the roster given their cap hits.
