He's not gonna be the starter. He's unlikely to be back-up over Enroth+Neuvirth unless Enroth's traded in the offseason.

Highly, highly unlikely. Unless something crazy happens over the summer, it'll be Enroth or Neuvirth starting.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure why Hackett is even on his team...

Wow, how many teams are in that league?

It makes perfect sense if the teams draft prospects. Hackett was at one time though of as a great prospect, and considering how tough goaltenders are to find, it would make sense to try and acquire top goalie prospects.

Hackett probably goes through waivers to Rochester. And he'll have to beat out Lieuwen and Makarov down there. The Neuvirth acquisition basically slammed the door on him starting next year in the NHL.

1) OK. Better in the NHL so far than he was in the AHL at least. He's been passed by Leiuwen this year, though, and Makarov is off to an excellent start with Rochester after spending most of the year in the ECHL. Hackett's going to have to really fight for opportunities going forward.
2) No. Unless one of Neuvirth/Enroth is traded, he's probably on waivers to start the year, and then in the AHL after nobody claims him.

Does anyone think Makarov gets a shot next year?

Unless we go through another spate of injuries like this year or trade or non-tender goalies, Makarov is going to have a hard enough time sticking in Rochester next season, let alone Buffalo.

Buffalo has Enroth and Neuvirth signed.

Rochester has Loo signed and Hackett as RFA.
