He beat out Karlsson and Letang to QB PP1, which is something. He was borderline unplayable in his own zone the first month or two of the season but eventually straightened it out. If the Pens didn't already have Karlsson and Letang down the right I think they would have re-signed him, but as is they need defensively responsible stay home guys to pair with those two. Gryz/Timmina would be fine if we moved Karlsson in the next few days.

I think one lesson that Drury should have learned from the last few years is that a smallish and for the most part not very physical defense is not going to win a championship. Signing Grzlecyk would just tell me he hasn't yet figured that out and maybe then that he's a bit over his head to be a GM of an NHL team.

I'm not a great fan of Drury's but if I were to bet he won't sign Grzelcyk......that said it wouldn't shock me if he did or even if he doesn't that our defense will still be smallish and pretty much the most exploitable part of the team.
