Didn't dean say like 2 games ago he wants Matt to play ASAP basically? If he missed a few more he'd just keep the same line up if matt wasn't ready? Idk hopefully they rush him in cause we need him bad.
 
Not sure if I understand the hatred for Ellerby. Guess Kings fans always need a whiping boy and he drew the short straw. He is a young defenseman that hasnt been awful. Made some mistakes but no more than Muzzin.

To be fair I dislike both equally and want Martinez to replace either one of them to unite our Greene/amart pair.

We've been spoiled with the offensive-defensive pairings from last year. Defensively, that pairing has been cringe-worthy the last few games, and Ellerby's supposed to be the defensive guy in that tandem. While Muzzin should shoulder a lot of the defensive blame too, that really isn't his main focus (wasn't when he was with Doughty), and at least we know he can contribute some offensively if he has a rock behind him. Getting Green with him or Martinez will lock down the defensive aspect for all three pairings.
 
Ellerby as a whipping boy i think is warranted. At least muzzin follows up mistakes with great individual plays, like a big check, or a great pass or shot...Muzzin is capable of making game breaking plays. I'm ok with a GAFF here and there, we give doughty a pass for it, so why not muzzin? I don't want this team playing timid like they did under TM.

Ellerby is well capable of making mistakes..and then follows it up by.... MAYBE not making mistakes. He offers no toughness, he offers no offensive savvyness. he's a younger-ish big body that can skate decently...but my biggest complaint is that his hockey IQ just doesn't seem very high. He had a good 3 game stretch and i thought i saw him turning some sort of corner... I'm all for defenseman being invisible.. i think that can be a good thing... but Ellerby doesn't quite have the subtelties or hockey IQ to be invisible.

Would love to see ellerby scratched for Greener... muzzin / ellerby pairing makes me nervous... having greener on muzzin's wing will allow him to do things he has done earlier in the year that makes him effective and helps out this team.
 
He probably won't play until Thursday or more likely Sunday since he just got cleared. Ellerby did good enough for what you could realistically expect but Greene being back is awesome.
 
We can manage another game or two without Greener, let him get fully acclimated.
 
Great news. Just want him to take it easy in the beginning so he won't re-aggravate anything. Ellerby was a decent stop gap, but I was hoping he'd turn into the next Kyle Quincey for us, maybe if he had more time...

He's been paired with them. Martinez was on our cup winning roster last year with greene by his side, much more proven than Ellerby /muzzin. I want to see how amart does with greene before I call him terrible.

Fair enough but imo if Greene makes Martinez look better, he would also make muzzin look better and I think muzzin brings more O than Martinez.

That's very true, but Martinez brings better Defense than Muzzin, our defense needs to be tighter so I'm leaning to the areas of importance which to me is why Amart and Greene pairing will be much better.
 
Great to see the Kings release this info and great to have MG almost back.

I posted this news late Saturday in the ducks pgt. I had heard Friday that this was happening and that we might see MG get some time as early as this Thursday, depending on things feel.

MG being back can make a giant difference to our playoff chances and that is great news. Give him a couple of games and hope for the best.

Yep ... pretty much ... just wait until Matt Greene takes a roughing/holding/hooking penalty and all the usual suspects will come out of the woodworks screaming ... "Greene you idiot", "Neanderthal", "You F'ing Moron", etc. :shakehead

I could even almost name names of those that will post this crap, it's childish and obviously does nothing to help anyone or improve the level of discussion during the GDT/PGT threads, it's just the COOL, hip thing to do I guess so many jump on board that bandwagon. :whatever:

x2 to this...he's done a great job bridging the gap and doing whats been asked of him. With that, soooo happy Greene is almost ready to come back. :handclap:
