Leafs fan here wondering about Frattin.

How come he didn't play in the last 20 games or so of the regular season?

Or

Why wasn't he sent to your AHL affiliate?

Discuss anything related to him.

Frattin?

Uhh... Well... Ummm... Yeah... He's energetic. He's got that going for him.

Why in the world would we have sent him down to the AHL? He was forward depth.

No idea what we're going to do with our excess forward depth. Stay tuned.

He wasn't good. He's not as bad as some think around here, but he's not good. You can take him back if you want him, he's not coming back.

The question is, Leafs fans, what kind of draft pick do we get for sending you Frattin's RFA rights? We have no room for him.

Because he wasn't good enough to crack the top 6 and wasn't physical enough to be in the bottom 6.

He almost certainly won't be qualified.

@MattFrattinNews follows me on Twitter for reasons passing my understanding.

That's all I got.

Heh, is that a fan or him?

My boy, Cody Bass follows me. Always liked that guy even before he started following me. Really pulling for that guy to catch on somewhere.

Oh, yeah, and I hope Frattin figures things out as well...

Highly unlikely that Frattin is qualified. He simply wasn't very good in the few opportunities he had. Granted, he was in a tough situation coming to an established team with players bought in to a system and he needed to crack it. I just didn't see anything that indicated he's an upgrade anywhere in the CBJ system.

He was a dump by LA, and an extra body for the CBJ heading into the playoffs. Nothing more than someone to give a body a break here. That's why he didn't play much.

I'll echo, he won't be qualified.

Won't be back.

Bye - Bye

Is he? We'll see. Not sure there is a huge market for him and he might be in a position where he might have to look at a two-way contract if there is no market for him on a one-way deal.

To be honest, I might qualify both him and Tropp (depending on how they are handing the off-season conditioning) and release the one that doesn't make the roster. If he clears send him down. If he doesn't clear - bonus.

Lord knows they will probably try and keep Comeau.

GM's hate to admit failure.... look for Frattin to stay...

Frattin was a mere contract and cap dump. He wasn't thought of to be a difference maker nor constant contributor. It's not a mistake if he was never thought to do anything.

Im guessing most people here have seen Frattin play a grand total of 4 games and are willing to say hes not good. I saw him in most of his games in Toronto and I'd take him over Comeau and Tropp. He has a really good wrister and isn't afraid to throw a hit. Like L.A we put him in a position to fail and he did

That would be slightly concerning.

There was no rush to keep guys like Scottie Upshall and Sami Lepisto around. Swallow the cost and move on.

i think i'd keep him over comeau and tropp...he played well in LA but was subject to a numbers game more than anything...

Not Tropp.... man, Tropp contributed to some winning games Fro.... What is it with Columbus fans, dump the decent players yet complain about everyone who isn't dumped???

While I agree Tropp >> Frattin. But who cares, they're both 4th liners. It's not like either are irreplaceable.

I don't think "fourth liners" get nearly enough respect especially in a team like Richards's Columbus which likes to shuffle players between lines often.

Can't think many other advantages that Columbus had this season over other organizations with it's player material than having acquired plenty (or enough) quality fourth liners that provide width during a long season. After all they come rather cheap.

Agree with your point as it relates to this team. A strength of the CBJ in 2014 was having a 4th line that could score and play the PK. I would even say that Letestu would be a capable 3rd liner on many teams and DMac could be on some. So it is different than the borderline AHL guys you often see on the 4th of many teams.
