Matt Duchene had 0 EVP in 18 playoff games

Duchene had some chances. I’m more disappointed in Robertson. I understand he was coming back from injury, but he already had the WPG series to shake off the rust. He was invisible and a turnover machine. His lack of foot speed will keep him from becoming a truly elite forward.

Robertson scored 3 goals in the final two games, and was one of the only noticeable and dangerous forwards.

Considering he came off an injury, right in the middle of the playoffs, I'd hardly blame him when you had someone like Rantanen not score a single goal in the WCF.

I don't get that guy. He seems extremely inconsistent. He's been that way his whole career.

Didn't he have a season where he had like six goals and 13 points and then score 40+ goals the next year?

Having zero EVP in a lengthy playoff run is rough. I'm sure he had bad luck (obviously)... but ugh.

Do you think he performed better than Matthews and Marner?

Duchene has had that reputation as an empty-calories guy for quite some time now. Not elite enough of a scorer to outshine a true star, not rounded enough to contribute in other areas of the game. He’ll lose his matchup most of the time, while putting up numbers that will sucker some GM in the summer.

Sounds like he'd be a great fit on the hurricanes.

All of Dallas besides Granlund and Rantanen at times looked back 5 on 5. Sounds like a coaching flaw if the only guys who look good are the guys who just got there.

Anyways, if Dallas doesn’t want him I’m sure Winnipeg will take him
This is a take I agree with, give him another coach and or team
The whole team fizzled in the playoffs

We arent kicking Wyatt out for a terrible post season, right? right?

Were all of his linemates shots bad too?

Yes, if Duchene isn't setting them up properly or creating good chances, then their shots will most likely be pretty futile, on a whole. Especially if he's the one supposed to drive play. What you're putting forward here with your "on-ice shooting %" or "puck luck" schtick is essentially a form of Lysenkoism where all players are treated equally no matter what they're doing on the ice or how they play.

So you think a 2.5% on ice shooting percentage isn't representative of bad puck luck?

Lol okay. Not every player is expected to achieve the same on ice sh%. There are a few elite offensive players that are able to inflate that number a material amount. But nobody gets a sub 3% rate over such a sample size without getting a lot of bad puck luck.

You have to watch the games to explain these things. You can't just look at numbers and make assumptions. Show some tape where I can lay my eyes on said "puck luck" and then we can talk more about it.

You don't need to see specific examples. Bad puck luck can be occur in the aggregate. Goalies aren't saving 98 out of 100 shots (vs 15 expected goals) without getting some fortunate luck.

It occurs in the aggregate but I'm not allowed to see it?
You're absolutely allowed to. But it might not look like what you'd expect. It's not necessarily going to be a ton of highlight reel saves (though it very well might be). It could just be goalies consistently making a bunch of mid danger saves at a much higher rate than they normally would.

He at least scored a ton vs Edmonton the past couple years, elite shooting. Meanwhile Duchene's line played well but couldn't finish anything
