Fellow Norwegian posters.
There will be a longer special intervju With Zucca about the nerve wracking days before the contract was done @ tv2 tonight @21:25 Norwegian time.

And BTW, he promised more NHL stars on his charity event the comming summer, barring some contracts an injuries though.

In stead of threated, we got tricked
In stead of kisses, we got kicked
It`s a hard nok life

Dissapointed TV2, that was not a long chat With Zucc.:(
Team offered 4, Zucc asked for 5, was real happy to meet half way.

I see Zuccs has picked the furthest town away from Sweden, Hank & Hags better not even think about showing up!! :sarcasm:

If hags has signed a contract, you can bet Your a.. his there. Zucc said there would be more NHL players this time, but have to wait for some contracts and so on.

NMC (No Move Clause). Well.. you cannot be moved without your approval, simple as that (this includes getting demoted to the AHL).

NTC (No Trade Clause). Same principle as an NMC, but its usually "limited" (meaning, there are 30 teams in the NHL, and you can for example list 10 that you cannot be traded to without your approval).

I thought I read they had agreed to a "modified" NTC, whatever that means.

I was really surprised to hear this because the NTC issue was what resulted in Callahan being moved to Tampa Bay. I thought Sather was adamant about more more no-trade agreements.

While i dont remember the exact wording of the contract, what Zucc got was an NMC (or a full NTC) for next year (IE, he cannot be traded next season), and for the remaining 3 years after that it is just a normal contract (IE, he can be traded on the spot to anyone if the Rangers should feel that was warranted).

This was...little risk for the Rangers, seeing as they are satisfied with his current level of play, and its only the first year out of 4. If his play was to dip significantly, the Rangers are in a position to do something about it.

Compare that contract to say.. Girardi's, who got a 6 year contract, first 3 years of full NMC, last 3 with a modified NTC. Staal has a fairly similar one if i recall, etc.

Cally likely wanted a looong NMC, which is not good for the club (i dont remember any details about that anymore, other than that he wanted a 7 year deal of like 6.5 per).

Even without a no trade, what are the chances the Rangers trade him right away?

Seems a bit odd to have a full no trade in the first year of a deal then nothing for the last 3.

it gives them a recourse. MZA, when he's on, is an extremely effective player...but it wasnt too long ago where he was being talked as waiver fodder. He needs to keep playing. I think the Rangers did it to hold some leverage over him. Keep playing hard kid, or youre gone.

i dont think he needs to motiviation, but i think the team felt like they needed the leverage.

i dont think they trade him though. he's an integral part of this team.

It's more or less an insurance if they ever need to retool/rebuild within the contract length. Nor probable, but it's a cap league. A good player on a cheap contract is worth a lot of prospects for a contending team

Mats actually has the most points after the All Star Break. Just another confirmation that he is a slow starter. Imagine him coming out big from the start of the season....

21 points in 28 games since the All Star Break. Nash and Hayes with 20.

I predict a big playoff series for him.

I think Zooks plays better when Nash is on a different line. I'm not sure why but it seems like he feels less pressure and the forechecking on his line is better. I think AV putting JT on his line gave him a spark. Never hurts to have some young legs to help forecheck.

Now up to 46 points in 71 games (.65ppg)

I hope he can find a way to grab another 4 points in the last 9 games of the season. It would be nice to say he scored 50 points even after his very slow start.

A cute love story

But those two are very important for the Rangers, no doubt about that.

24 points in his last 29 games? Nothing wrong with that.

He has more even strength points this season than last season. I really hope that he can reach 50 points after such a bad luck start.

Jets coach Paul Maurice, who coached Mats Zuccarello in the KHL for Metallurg Magnitogorsk during the 2012-13 season, raved about Zuccarello’s enthusiasm for the sport of hockey (credit going here to Pat Leonard of the Daily News for asking the question).

Maurice said, “Mats loves to play…he loves being at the rink skating,” and said that noticeably stood out compared to some of the other KHL players.

“That’s not always true over there,” Maurice said.

In particular, Maurice recalled watching Zuccarello standing by the locker room door, trying to high-five teammates as they went past. Maurice said only maybe a third of Zuccarello’s teammates would actually high five him.

“The other guys looked they like they were going out for a shift (of work),” Maurice said.

“As a coach, you appreciate that,” Maurice said of Zuccarello’s enthusiasm and love for hockey. “You especially appreciate that over there. I thought it was unique over there.”

Mats Zuccarello tallied a goal and was credited with two blocked shots in 18:55 of ice time. He has notched a point in six of the last seven games, registering eight points (three goals, five assists) over the span. He ranks second on the Rangers with 38 points (11 goals, 27 assists) in 51 games since Dec. 8. Zuccarello has recorded all 15 of his goals this season at even strength, and he is tied for second on the Blueshirts in even strength goals in 2014-15.

Will he win the McDonald award again this year? I believe his fanbase increased even more when he left a million a year on the table just because he wants to be a Ranger.
