Are you seriously comparing NYR with Detroit? The Rangers have never have any resemblance of the skill of Datsyuk and Zetterberg up front,

New York Rangers did have a determined team culture: they had an extremely impressive run with multiple ECFs, a Stanley Cup runner-up, etc.

The letter that was sent out to the fans, stated this would happen. Everyone knew this would happen. I hope Zucc comes back, but I am absolutely not banking on it.

What should we compare it to? Edmonton? Toronto? A total debacle? Detroit started with Yzerman. He started the entire culture of embracing routines and committing towards a common goal. That's my point. Skilled veterans being idols with commitment. What do you want to show to the youngsters, Shattenkirk? Or Smith? Players entering the pre-season out of shape? Awaiting their retirement?

Team culture. It means something. NYR has always traded players like pawns, all the time. It doesn't preserve an actual team culture, it gets what you pay for. Not in soul, but in cash. NYR is currently a cash culture. When you get a soul, you win something. When Lundqvist retires, what is left to show the rest of the team what it takes to win, or merely provide profit for their owner?

The Stanley Cup or paying for Dolan's 7th house? What is more important? I can't call this a rebuild. I call it the usual circus.

Regardless, I admire and respect so many (ex-) Ranger players: Zucc, McD, Captain Cally, MSL for that magical run, Talbot, Sauer (a shame), and even guys like Carcillo and Prusty.

Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.

But all good things must come to an end, nothing last forever.

I wish Zucc well, but he is NOT worth the money that he was seeking, and we would have lost him for NOTHING.

It`s wrong topic because this is all about Mats, but I understand your view as well with your opinions concerning the Franchise way to do things - and it`s more directed towards the Franchise culture/structure and their current GM & President. It`s a huge culture differences from New York to any cities in Sweden as well - they have Wall street which is well known.

Personally I hope you will write here, but it`s understandable you`re not happy with curernt situation how Rangers do things, and I would kept Zucc as well if we only get a 2nd/3rd if he ends up signing with someone else this summer which could happen. And I won`t speculate on him since he had a major role why I bother to write anything on HF Boards in the past.

But I`m not so critical than others - I just accept other opinions, and another persons are not happy fine, and I hope you will post more in the future when the Franchise is in a different state which is hopefully more competitive. And this whole rebuild process could last some additional years, and there are thousends of Rangers fans not happy with it current situation for x,y reasons and players getting moved for a future core. And could things have been done differently? Oh yes we could either tank a lot better or waited with the whole rebuild until NMC players like Staal is history. I think the timing and the letter is way off as well - not ideal time for it, but it is what it is.

This 4 weeks without him will drag out longer than an off-season after missing the playoffs for us.

Seriously cannot wait to get him back in the lineup.

No player in my 20+ years of watching has changed my opinion of them in such a short span. 2 periods to be exact.

I had no interest in passed being a rental this year, because I truly didnt think he would play this well for another team. Not because of his skill, but because he seems like a passion guy and he loves the NYR so much.

If we dont give up that 1st round pick to the rangers to re-sign him, I'll be livid.

I wish we already gave it up honestly. I want him signed so we know we will see him in a Stars jersey for sure longer than just potentially 1 game.

I hope he is willing to sign in the offseason. He can always go back to NY after his next contract towards the end of his career.

We haven't seen that sort of energy from this team in so long

Another thing about him, he looks like a guy that could actually really change things for this team emotionally/mentally. They actually looked confident out there offensively. Now I know it's the Hawks and they suck defensively but still there was a different level to our game that we haven't seen

After not even a whole game , I think Zuccarello might be my favourite player on the team . I miss him already .

He left us wanting more and now we have to wait at least 4 weeks for it. As SwatKatz said, this is gonna be the longest and most brutal 4 weeks ever. And that's 4 weeks until they re-evaluate him, who knows how long it'll actually be. That's being very hopeful that it's just 4 weeks/kinda rushing it. We may get an injured Zucc back

You saw, what you saw......it was real. Team was uplifted? Not a surprise from any of us. But, just to be totally honest here...new acquisitions (especially good players) will usually "rub off" immediately. Players are happy the deadline passed (or will soon), so there is that as well.
Unfortunately, the way this has happened.....I compare it to....
Giving candy to a child, and then taking it away. Happened so quickly, and now the "waiting is the hardest part". At least there is something to look forward to.

Good for Zuccarello. To be honest, going to Dallas could best thing for Zuccarello at this point in his career. He didn’t handle the rebuilding process well, but being on a playoff has likely rejuvenated him. It would appear to me that him re-signing in Dallas will come down to him. Dallas can likely offer him the contract with the most value. Hopefully for you guys he falls in love with the organization and can’t ty. I don’t think the Rangers are going to be competition for signing him. I think that bridge has been crossed.

A lot of people believed in Zucc before I did. Not many liked him as much once he fully arrived than I did.

Yeah, I mean... my whole stance then, and now for that matter, is that no player is his potential until he is. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I just refuse to count on prospects to improve. Too many disappointments.

Luckily, Zuccarello did and us as fans and the whole organization was better off for it.

People should stop getting upset over people losing interest after the team trades their favorite players. It's only natural to take a break in your fandom if the team you root for does something you don't agree with, especially when they trade away a player as fun to watch as Mats. I still hope he'll be back next season, no matter how irrational that may be. I took his NYR T-shirt under his Dallas jersey as a hint that his heart belongs in the Big Apple.

I love that shootout move. I wish he didn't try changing it up at times we really need him to score. Quite the shootout player, though. At a time when shootouts were happening frequently, this was big that he came through more than 50%.

It's very understandable how somebody can lose interest, especially a fan that isn't from North America. Getting into hockey, or following a team because of a specific player you idolize or fell in love with, rather than growing up following a favorite team and seeing players come and go. Some people fell in love with teams, and some people fell in love with players that made hockey existing for them. The jersey logo on the front is more important than the name on the back doesn't hold true for everybody.
