Matias Maccelli

Labanc/Spooner 3.0 but far softer

I don't think Maccelli should be swimming in value. Maccelli was beyond terrible last season. Probably waiver wire fodder, but to be honest I don't know why anyone would want him, even on a league minimum contract.

He didn't play a lot of minutes, but in those he did play, he racked up the 2nd least PK ice time on his team, 11 takeaways, 6 hits, 10 blocked shots, 8 PIMs and 18 points. Was he even playing the game or just ghosting around? Those types of players are so frustrating to watch as a fan. It's like a penalty kill whenever they hop on the ice.

Honestly, that seems like it would be a great fit. He gets back to first power play time and could be feeding Bedard.
I've loved Matias for several years but him and Teuvo on the same team is kinda redundant. Man would those two and Bedard play some gorgeous hockey on the PP from time to time though.

I think they should trade Maccelli for a potential player in need of a fresh start or to a team needing to make an impact with a solid addition to their top-six in Maccelli.

Tampa Bay:
Mathais Maccelli

Utah:
Isaac Howard
Nick Perbix

TBL gets hosed here, IMO. Guys like Maccelli are useful for teams without scoring depth, but I think Brisebois is too smart to pay top dollar for them.

I'm not sure if buffalo has room for a guy like maccelli or wants more small fwds, unless maybe quinn or krebs was on the way out. (barring a separate peterka trade) but Valimaki would make a lot of sense for them. Big lefty that's somewhat of a luxury on a 3rd pair and can PK well and play higher in the lineup when needed. Didn't have a good year this year, but was fantastic the season before. A reset and an organization showing confidence in him might be a good fit. Him and Clifton on a 3rd pair would be pretty solid and a shutdown type pair when protecting a lead.

What about Valimaki for Ryan Johnson+ a 4th?

Seems reasonable to me
