Mark my words - Maccelli will be a Canuck at the trade deadline. Soucy for Maccelli as a base - 2 guys that are much better than they've shown this season but address the needs of Utah and Van respectively.

How on earth does Soucy address the needs of Utah?

Also his value should be nowhere close to a 24 year old one year removed from putting up 57 points.

Maccelli isn't a fit for Ottawa unfortunately. They need a goal scorer, not a playmaker.

I would however dangle Josh Norris if we could get that in return - especially if we're unloading some cap.

He's absolutely a fit in Ottawa. We need players capable of both scoring goals and setting them up.

Maccelli could be an excellent linemate for a goal scoring center like Pinto, assuming this season is just an aberration.

If we can get Maccelli for a bargain price - great lets do it (but why would Utah?). At market value, we don't need him more than we need other things - and we have very few trade assets to go around. A goal scorer for Stutzle is much more important than another top-6 playmaker.

FWIW - I had a similar opinion when Ottawa added Chcyhrun (in regards to his handedness), and DeBrincat (regarding his contract demands). They were luxuries we realistically couldn't afford, and Maccelli is exactly that again for Ottawa IMO.

That 2LW need is why I wish bear would try Maccelli with Hayton and Guenther instead of Carcs, just to see.

Maccelli and Hayton have struggled to click in the games I saw them together last season. Seems like a great match on paper, but didn't work in game. I like Mats, but I don't think he's part of our future plans. Some team is going to need a middle 6 winger with skill, that team will love Maccelli.
