Joseph's salary is fine given his production and highly valuable intangibles. He's one of the fastest players in the league, plays with jam and motor and is a PK specialist. He just has zero finish, but he contributes well out there relative to what he's paid.

Our GM would be an absolute moron to trade him for a mid round pick. Especially under some dumb scheme to "lure" a player via his brother.

And I guarantee, despite what HF joes might think, Joseph for a mid round pick would have a ton of GM takers.

Counter Proposal: I'll give you a mid round pick to stop posting this nonsense.
Basically this

He was only a 'cap dump' last year because dorion can't do math and screwed the Sens cap situation

The issue is Ottawa needs to upgrade in net and the only way they're getting out of that Korpisalo deal is by buying him out.

So it's either go with a $5 million goalie addition (pretty much Ullmark or Jarry) and run with Korpisalo as the backup or buy out Korpisalo, or not upgrade in net.
I think they will ride out Korpisalo another year. Spending $9.375 x 4 years on Jarry (or whomever) and Korpisalo together is insanity. Korpisalo was a train wreck this year but goalies are volatile and he has at times shown out. Jarry certainly has the better track record but is he the difference on this Sens team if you also have to keep Korpisalo’s $16 million on the books or eat a bunch of money long-term on a buyout?

I think this is definitely possible, but I also feel like Ottawa is desperate enough to improve their goaltending that they'd be willing to do that.

I think next year is a pretty important year for them and just going into next year with the same goalie tandem, while they failed last year in major part due to their goalie tandem, isn't a good look.

No, Armia decent player. Likely dealt at deadline for a 2nd. Retained
So decent he was a veteran who started in the AHL last season? I'll give you that he played well when he came back, but he's an enigmatic player who's not part of the team moving forward.

Joseph has his flaws too, but I think Marty could turn him around to be a good 3rd liner with speed, which fits the style HuGo wants.
