New York Islanders: Mathieu Darche is named GM of the New York Islanders

My guesses:

1. Roy Stays. Maclean is gone but Albelin Stays

2. Lou is still around as an advisor to Malkin but has no official title/is not in the building

3. Roest is hired as AGM/Bridgeport Czar/Director of Player Development. HOWEVER Chris L sticks around in some capacity, even if it's in name only. Lou won't advise Malkin if he shitcans his son.
I think this is just an introductory press conference, not expecting any actual moves like this.

This is Collins first led show. It will be all about Darche, but one has to think they’ll tease something out, even if it’s another presser.

Gotta thin the team realizes Darche (and Collin’s) have to immediately set a different tone and arch on this meeting vs the old faithful version of Lou (I don’t mind that version but people/fans want more content).

If that's the case, and there's really no evidence for it that I know of, then this is already off to a bad start.
There’s plenty of evidence of it. Hiller stays in LAK, Holland is now GM. Dubas inherited Babcock in Toronto and also took the job in PIT knowing Sullivan had his contract by ownership. And so on.

The 1999 four first round picks?
The better Lindros brother
Mike Rupp

List is endless

I was so excited for those picks. It was like..."We're going to draft the core of our team in just 2 hours!"

Then you find out that later that it was one of the worst drafts of the era. No wonder they were able to get 4 first rounders.

But...

Darche/Collins are going to be certainly asked about who will stay and who will go. There would be no reason to schedule this press conference without at least deciding on the coaching staff. It's going to be the #1 question the press are going to want an answer for...And truth is, it should be Darche's first order of business. Lord knows he's been a candidate for a month so if he wasn't thinking about what he'd do with Roy before he was even hired I'd be disappointed.

I could understand Darche wanting to wait and evaluate the assistant GMs, scouting department, etc, but to not get an answer on Roy today would be shocking (and make me question what they've been doing/why even schedule the press conference yet).

I meant that ownership is unwilling to fire the coach because of money.
Yes, that is unknown. However, it’s been alleged Roy is on a 3 or 4 year deal. While he was ostracized for awhile, I doubt Lou took that into consideration when paying him. So, he’s probably paid a reasonable amount - somewhere between Trotz money and Lambert money. That’s a decent amount of money to pay the guy that’s 1/2 in making the playoffs and one can use the injury excuse for last season, if so inclined.
