The problem is he needs better players around him. No coincidence he did so well his rookie year with Tavares as 1C.

And I think that pretty much says it all as a second line center he preformed well, didn’t see the oppositions best checking line and was an unknown in the league. Tavares made goal scorers out of ordinary players and he went to the net. My biggest criticism of Barzal is his inability to drive the net.
