Beirut explosion shatters windows across Lebanese capital

Beirut, Lebanon (CNN) A large explosion ripped through the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, injuring people and smashing windows in buildings across the city.

Apparently the big explosion was a warehouse full of sodium nitrate that had been confiscated off a ship.

If we're supposed to be looking in the vicinity of the scribbled mark, I see what could be a dark-colored helicopter which might have been either filming or monitoring the initial fire. Am I getting warmer?

Nah. You see an object on a downward projectory from left to right. It lands at the base of that apparent silo, and a second later you get the explosion.

A sad example of what dysfunctional governance can lead to, even after the similar explosions in China a year after this load was confiscated no one thought to do anything about a shitload of highly explosive material stored in the middle of a metropolis.
