He should be one of our fresher forwards tomorrow. lately he's been finding ways to make an impact even with limited TOI.

Thought it was his best game last night. Is still producing this season despite limited mins and playing with 4th liners. Really good sign, and see the potential with this kid.

Yeah. What I liked was, he was really making plays and winning battles. Seemed a very sustainable game, and I think that Jones and Leason, while not being the best offensive players, meshed well with the style.

Looking forward to more games with him at the center. Looks waaaaaaay more natural in there

Small sample of his faceoff work since being put at center.

Game 2 (Van, Nov 3): 3/6 (50%)
Game 3 (SJ, Nov 5): 5/8 (62.5%)

His quick strike ability might be best on the team. We need more players like that. Hopefully Perreault can develop into that as well. He can go invisible for the entire game then get the puck once and make a play passing or shooting for a goal. He also is pretty good at little chip passes/plays out of bad situations in the offensive zone and in transition.

Hilarious he was just finding his rhythm and Eakins moves him back to wing. Not even surprising.
Our players are being built as winners. They not only have to fight opponents on the ice, they also fight their own coaching staff decisions.

The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory :sarcasm:

If the team really does want to utilize newer stats and tech with conventional metrics, here's a five game sample. The first three games are McTavish at center and the last two is McTavish at wing. McTavish still isn't being utilized often at Even Strength and only recently was placed back onto the PP unit in the last game (game 14 vs Wild) with 4:11 pp TOI. Yet, in limited time at center, he's a far more productive player even with nobodies like Jones and Leason. The move back to wing with more established NHLers isn't getting a more positive outcome.

McTavish centering Jones and Leason elevates those two far more than playing wing with established veterans. More good things happen when McTavish is at center like his line scoring and McTavish scoring as well.

Keep McTavish at center and Lundy should be a 4th line center if Lundy made McTavish look that bad. Anyhow, people complaining about McTavish not getting enough ice time at center aren't really making a great argument since he's not getting more ES ice time at wing in the recent two games with the 3rd and 2nd lines. I'd rather McTavish do more in limited time at center than be invisible in the same amount of time higher in the lineup at wing.

I can admit when Im wrong and right now, playing him at wing, is wrong. I havent seen ti too often when going to wing becomes a guys downfall, but in this case it seems like thats whats happening. Put him back at center with Regenda, Jones, Leason or whoever else as a 3/4 line.

Yeah he needs to play center. Eakins is an idiot. Oh well Carrick is coming back soon I guess he's gonna play wing and stay there in Eakins brain.

the coaching staff moving MacT back to wing after a relatively successful stint at his natural position is the single weirdest thing i can think of in a while. They finally made what really appeared to be the right decision and then reversed course. is it really just to get gawdin in the lineup? their priorities just seem to be warped sometimes. this wouldn't even be up for discussion if we had Gallant behind the bench of something.

I have to think Verbeek has his eye on Eakins' decisions. The mandate was pretty clear that he wants growth and progression from the kids. Questionable treatment of McTavish won't reflect too well on Eakins.

Well if they fire Eakins he can go back to being David Tennant's stunt double on Doctor Who because David Tennant is playing Dr. Who again in the new season.

Remember when Comtois-Lundy-Rakell were hot during the Covid season and looked like our default 1st line and then out of nowhere Eakins decides to separate them. But why?! That's how I feel after seeing a more active McTavish at center and then negating that activity by making him invisible at wing again.

Dude plays well at C and we put him on a 4th line wing even tho the #4 C spot is kinda available too. It's like we're trying to ruin him.

I hope we send him to WJC as I guess OHL is not considered for him atm

Gawdin is awful - he needs to go away the minute carrick is ready to step back in the lineup.

to me, Mctavish seemed to be losing confidence with the puck again tonite, much like he looked right before they moved him to centre a couple weeks ago. thought he looked like he was getting frustrated as well. just bizarre handling of him.
