+100. Finally we agree. :)

You and I both!

I was sceptical about him playing top6 but if Eakins can give him PP time and still limit his TOI like in game 1 then McTavish could be fine. He was certainly effective.

First game of the season, but I think he displayed a good promise of his offensive abilities. He won't blow you away with speed or anything, but his shot and playmaking will make him well

IIRC, That was Zegras with the horrendous turnover, where he dropped it to Klingberg who instantly had 3 Kraken on him at the blue line. Mactavish had one earlier in that sequence when he fell down, but it didn’t lead to that.
You're right, Mason's giveaway was seconds before that and Klingberg recovered it in the neutral zone. Z's horrible drop pass was the next zone entry. I must have still been thinking of Mason tripping over his own shadow there.

Point still stands, although now it seems sort of petty to insist on it.

There was also something black on the ice where McTavish fell. Not sure if it was there before he fell or if it came off while he was falling.

That said I would describe his play as good but opportunistic, whereas players like Z and Terry are creating opportunities. Not a bad quality, especially for somebody so new to the league, but something he will need to build on if he wants to be truly great.

To be fair I'd say that first pass to Terry definitely created a chance. He was largely invisible but he obviously can take advantage of (or create) down-low chances. I wonder if he can find another couple gears and be a dominant player.

Gonna get the crowd upset at this but keep in mind the only reason he had a chance to make the second pass was because his ass was saved after a horrendous blue line giveaway by a Zegras back check - doesn't seem all that repeatable tbh

That reminded me of the WJC-20 championship game this August. People remember the "golden save" by McTavish, but it was his blunder with the pass to no one near the blue line and misplayed the puck at the blue line later in that shift that eventually led to the "golden save". McTavish was bailed out by his defenseman (first McTavish error) and goalie (second McTavish error)! Here's the youtube video, it should start at the 2:30 mark.

Great post. You know if you block me you won't see my posts? Or I could help you out. Lmk.

To quote Zegras "Dude". Have a sense of humor and don't take yourself so seriously. I agree with and "like" your posts at times. Besides, if I blocked you I wouldn't get the chance to call you out you when I think that's deserved.

I guess he wasn't really known as a playmaker but both of those passes were really nice

If he continues to develop his playmaking like he did in the first game he's gonna be an amazing player as it'll raise his ceiling even higher.

The prospect scouting review that people had were from his D-1 season, not D+0 season b/c he was overseas and the WJC-18 wasn't a long enough burn to use as an updated scouting review for a majority of scouting sites.
McTavish's playmaking skills were on display at the WJC-18's and that's why I said last year that his ceiling might be higher, but too many on here often loudly discredited McTavish's, which includes his playmaking skills. Mitch Brown from EP raved that McTavish was the most complete player at the WJC-20. McTavish's playmaking skills kept on developing once he was traded from the Petes to the Bulldogs. It also resurfaced again at the WJC-20.

Being a dual threat on offense to shoot or pass as a center should make McTavish very valuable like Zegras.

Using "hands" to judge players is definitely an interesting way to tell if someone is better than another. Milano has better hands than 80% of the players on our team. Beniers has underrated offensive skills and a ridicolous skating base with both speed and elite edge work that both those players don't. He also has more heart and determination than any of those players and its not even close. He's a Point type. He's the reverse of "quick strike" offense than McTavish brings. His hands are in everything whether he has the puck or not. He impacts the game more than any of the forwards you listed.
Point is an excellent comparable

Exactly - amazing how some internet keyboard warriors have such thin skin. LOL.
I mean sometimes I just don't wanna hear random idiotic stranger opinions online...simply because I don't care.... If you think that's thin skin then get some real life friends and maybe go outside.

Ok there, "Generational Poster".
It's literally a joke to the Toronto posters on this forum..... You must not visit the MBs.

Love the fact that the snowflake who posts on here more than just about anyone tells me to go outside and find friends (projection much), all because he can't stand to read other anonymous opinions on an hockey board create for people to . . . post opinions. You are fantastic!

Jesus.
You guys are actually making me want to leave the board. Block each other and move on or take it to DMs. You don’t need to subject everyone else to this childish shit.
It's been done from me yesterday as I said in my post not sure if he posted anything else and continued on.

Big Mac is looking like a stud. His floor appears to be a solid 2nd line winger. Interesting to see how good he’ll be 3 years from nos
Definitely looks better and not behind the play so much compared to last year. It's too bad we never have the puck and we can't see more of what they can do from our young players thus far.

His anticipation appears to be strong. I get a better shooting, worse defensive Mark Stone vibe from him right now.

I know a lot of people want him to be more physical and throw big hits on the forecheck but I’m actually kinda glad he’s not into that. I feel like that would dumb him down a bit

Thought Mac had another good game. He seems to be in the mix, almost scored last night. The D issues are so bad that I’m trying to find some silver linings and he is one of them.
