Value of: Mason McTavish to Montreal

An internal cap allocation still exists even if you're spending to the cap in order to maintain a balanced contract structure. We have one in Montreal where most Fs are taking the Suzuki contract as the upper limit. It's about spending wisely.

There's only so many players you can pay 10M+ to before you become Toronto.
Your internal cap will probably be changing going forward as the cap increases

Fair argument.

As for McTavish, I think it would take an OS equivalent of 4 1sts though to pry him. He exploded the 2nd half of the season with a near point per game production while still on the worst powerplay in the league. I don't think they would absolutely max a deal in the 9M range if it actually happened
He’s not getting 11.8+ million, let alone habs giving up 4 firsts.

Did you read what I wrote? Anaheim wouldn't match that. The threshold below starts at 9.36M which I think they would match, if you offer 10M though, not sure
Ya I read it, you said it would take 4 firsts to pry him, so I bolded that text, and said habs wouldn’t offer 4 firsts, did you read what I wrote and bolded.

A lot of people saying he would cost 4 firsts... I'd do that for him. Pretty easily.

Habs are a playoff team already, McTavish makes the team better.

So it would be 16+17 this year and 2 picks around the 20-22ish range? That's a lot to trade, pretty easy to do though.

Or, using what people like Lebrun reported the deal with Zegras would have been, 16 + 17 + next year in the 20s + Mailloux? I'd give that up without a second thought.

I don't see McTavish as a point per game player but I think he has a bit more in him, I think he's got 60-70 pt seasons in him, possible having a couple seasons a bit higher than that. 4 mid to late firsts likely won't get you a centre with that quality.

If he ever became available (which I doubt they would), I'd do the 4 picks.

Not so sure about that, they have a glaring hole at #2 C.
So you think The Habs would give up 1st liners to fill a hole on the 2nd line? As for Demidov, the idea is to get a 2nd line centre to play with him not in exchange for him.

If The Ducks would bet interested in picks and/or defensive prospects then I could see it but other than that I don't see The Habs trading any of the big forwards.

If anything, the Ducks would be looking to trade defensive prospects or young NHL defenders to add scoring talent, so this just doesn’t seem like a realistic fit on virtually every level.

Lot of people said same thing about Suzuki at 21-22

It's a bit of a stretch to call Slaf a 1st liner, he certainly plays there but produces at a 2nd line level.

If he's a #1 winger then you would have to consider McTavish a #1, center in a fair evaluation.

If Anaheim were to accept Slaf for MacTavish (which they would not), Montreal would 100% consider it.

This is why i take all montreal "rumors" as a grain of salt, and why i never put much stock into the zegras rumors.

Not really anything practical that id want from montreal for McTavish... the stuff wed ask for you wouldnt move... and the stuff youd offer we wouldnt want for mctvaish.
This is the most accurate post yet.

My god 4 X 1sts for McTavish?? Are you guys f***ing sick??

I like McTavish a lot but what the actual f*** is going on here.

What’s going on is youd have to motivate us to want to move him….

Which would require a severe overpay.

Simple don’t ask questions you don’t want answers for
