Value of: Mason Marchment

I’d try to package him with Dumba and I think the Sharks would make a good trade partner once again.

With Marchment and Dumba , they get 2 tough players that can protect the youngings. With Marchment on the wing they can move Smith back to C. Had like 49 points (20goals) in like 62 games.

With Dumba, well, the sharks D was dismantled last season and I don’t think their prospects can shoulder the load this upcoming season. He was serviceable in Dallas most of the season and could be a good stop gap that Grier flips for a third or 4th this or next TDL.

The Mtl & OTT offers in this thread would also get the green light from me. Sry leafs fans, nearly every other team has cap space and a need, mixed with the fact this f\a class isn’t that interesting, Mcmann (lol) or a 4th is nowhere close to enough.

I would keep my original offer in this thread without "penalizing" Dallas inclusion of Dumba. The Sharks have use of him and if the Stars are offering him for free, I take him. They need a RHD or two.

I would hate it, but could see Trotz interested in taking both also. Preds love big guys and our NHL-level defensive depth is woeful. Dumba would fit right in with the likes of Lauzon

They should move Marchment and Dumba separately, because with Marchment you can get SOME value, not a ton because teams know they have to move salary, but some.

Matt Dumba is as close to a negative value asset as you get without being 100% sure he's a negative value asset.

You package them together you get NOTHING packaging Dumba with Marchment would tank Marchment's value.

If Dallas are hard up for cap why world they trade one of their best valuefor cap players? Plenty of players that are bad value they can move first.

They could package them together to San Jose without losing any value on Marchment imo.

As long as the return is decent, like a 2nd or something, I think this would be the ideal situation to clear cap space for the Stars.

I've mentioned earlier in the thread, depending on the timing of any would be trade, I would offer Kasper Halttunen and Ottawa's 2nd round pick or alternatively Mattias Havelid (if post draft).

Wait that was you lol. As a Stars fan I’d take either deal. Can’t go wrong with more Finns

I wish my Canucks could be in on him, would be great to add his toughness without adding any of Lekkerimaki, Willander or Silovs. Pipe dream for mix of skill, toughness and speed would be

Marchment - Petey - Lekkerimaki (Marchment could probably open up space for the skilled Swedes)
DeBrusk - Bennett - Hoglander (Bennett and Hoglander are feisty and could work with speedy DeBrusk)

Dallas has to move money he's not getting Willander, Lekkerimaki or Silovs

I'll never understand posts like this. He's a valuable player on a good contract, and the trade market will be driven by interested teams competing against each other to land him.
Don't be so logical.

There are a few other players they trade first.
One of Dumba/Lybushkin
They might trade Robinson for a very promising ELC/low bridge and other low cost players. Having WJ and now MR makes him moveable
Benn is resigned on a 35+ bonus heavy contract

Even if they trade Dumba and Lybu, they would have 12M to sign 9 guys.
That's not enough.
They might have to trade Robertson or ideally Seguin, but with a NMC, the return (if he accepts) would be unsatisfying. Nill is in a pickle and it will be interesting how he gets out of there. He's got 2 GM of the years so fans should be confident he won't screw up.

I can't see them trading Robertson

Leafs could use more physicality.

I think a value play for Dallas would be Marchment for Bobby McMann, McMann makes 1.35M and put up 20 goals this last year but isn't all that physical.

That would be a basis for a trade.

Marchment does have a 10 team no trade list that comes into play. I would prefer not to give up Mcmann as a fast, 20g two way pwf on a nice contract. But I can see how it would be beneficial as a framework for both teams.
