Dallas doesn't have a ton of cap space and I do think they are going to want to keep Mavrik Bourque.

in order to do that I think they are goin to want to move some salary and i think it's possible Mason Marchment is the guy.

If he were on the block what would the return be?

future considerations because everyone knows dallas is in a huge cap bind
He’s going to get value, many teams will want him.

Dumba will likely cost a pick to unload.

After that, not sure what other changes they will make to fill out their roster. That won’t be enough and I’m curious what happens with Bourque because I wonder if he wants an offer sheet for a better opportunity. I’ll also add if Bourque does go, I think it’s a trade. Instead of waiting for what could be a third to get him I think the bidding war of teams offering Dallas trades before he signs.

Would be a good target for Toronto. I could see a deal around Robertson 2

I won't lie the Leafs did cross my mind when I made this thread because I do expect them to be aggressive because they do have money to spend and they do need to make changes up front.

And he is 6"5 and 219 and I think Berbue does want to get bigger and it sounds like he's going to have a lot of say over who comes in

Outside fan looking in on that team, assuming Marner is gone (50/50 on Tavares) I expect GMBT to go hard after both Bennett and Mangiapane. 2 Toronto guys that he is very familiar with, I could also see him targeting someone just like Marchment. Having all 3 of those guys for essentially the same cap hit that Marner will get + 2 4th liners is just fundamentally a way better investment of your cap space

Hoping that Yzerman makes a deal with his friend Nill for Marchment.

Detroit needs some size and grit on the Wings and they could easily beat any offer any contender would make with their assets.

I fully expect Mangiapane to be a target, I also read yesterday from David Pagnotta that if they can sign Tavares that Brock Nelson would be a tar to play on his wife.

I expect Toronto to be extremely aggressive

I think a lot of people are going to be surprised at what Bennett gets, IF he leaves Florida I think the price tag will be in the $8m per season range. He probably returns to Florida at a discount rate like Reinhart did due to the team success and low taxes.

Would a 2nd do it? Hard to evaluate his value worth, on one hand Dallas has very little leverage with their cap situation - on the other hand the cap is going up and plenty of teams would want a Mason Marchment in their top 9.

47 pts in 62 games (freak facial injury) and regardless of how mad he makes HFBoards posters because he's mean to your favorite player.. coaches, GMs and players around the league want guys like him in their squad.

There will be no shortage of interested parties IF Dallas decides to move him, so you can forget about the "Dallas has no leverage" slant.

I'll never understand posts like this. He's a valuable player on a good contract, and the trade market will be driven by interested teams competing against each other to land him.
I'm not sure if he's "valuable" per se, but he's reasonable value for his $4.5M, and some teams will probably give up a little something to add him. In Nashville, we took Michael Bunting who is probably somewhat similar in terms of "value". Knowing Trotz and Brunette, they'd probably be interested in Marchment to a similar degree.

A 3rd round pick would be a reasonable median offer, probably, but I'm sure the Stars can find somebody on the upper end of the distribution who offers a 2nd. (Or equivalents). I could see the Preds offering their later 2nd #55... not saying I would be entirely happy if they did, but he does seem like the kind of player the Preds would covet. And normally teams don't like to trade within their division, but the Preds are going to be so awful for a while that it shouldn't really matter to the Stars? It's not like 1 season of Marchment from a basement team within their division is going to threaten them in any way. :dunno:

I would think something like a 2nd would work. Or a decent RHD prospect.
