With the Stars having cap space issue during the offseason, one player that could be traded and fetch positive value is Marchment. What would it take to get him on the Sens?

Ottawa can't afford a first, and we also don't have any good prospects we can afford to lose.

It's going to be difficult to make any trades.

Starts with maybe a 1st I would assume or a 2nd + prospect

I’d hope the sharks are in on that (preferably Ott/Col 26 2nd, but could be convinced to move 33).

out 2nd). He’d be ideal as Smith’s LW. Would you imagine it’s fair to say that Dallas will need to choose one of Granny, Marchment, and Duchene?

I’d guess Benn will sign for a bargain, they’ll bridge Bourque, and dump Dumba. What are stars fans hoping the offseason looks like?

Worth noting that Ottawa doesnt have a single player signed under $2.6m who is expected to play in the NHL next year. Only guy who would be available and is likely to play NHL hockey at a low cap hit next year is Matinpalo, but he (as an RFA) still needs a contract for next year.

A lot of what you are guessing plus getting a RHD. May look to move Robertson for that RHD.

I'd prefer Nill leaving the GMing to someone else this off-season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what 40-55 point wingers have fetched a first recently? I think I'm willing to part with a second depending on the market. Ideally a 3rd and a prospect.
As a Utah fan, I’d be willing to give Dallas Mathias Maccelli with max retention (1.71aav) and would be willing to also add Ottawa’s 2026 2nd (previously acquired) and the Ranger’s 2026 2nd (previously acquired) for Marchment.

Pretty sure Dallas says yes. MO.

I doubt Dallas plays hardball. They’re up against the cap and acquired him for “free” in free agency. I’d imagine prospects are more valuable than picks at this time so I think it would be more about Nill finding a guy he likes.

A first round pick was basically the going rate for anything this past deadline so it's not a crazy ask. But this would assume the team trading the 1st is dealing something like the 20th-32nd pick and not a top 5.
