From which day on can they re-sign him?
Officially I believe it's when the free agency starts, so July 1st.

Well, not like they were not negotiating with Rantanen last summer. Apparently they did get very close on a deal too. I don't really see how CMac would play this any differently with Necas, if his asking price is too much.Myeah, I get what you're saying. At the same time though, I doubt CMac wants to play around. I personally believe serious offers will be given to Necas camp early on to avoid what happened with Rantanen.
I'd bet money it's not close to $12 mil, and i'd be very surprised if it's more than $10.5 mil.Expecting anything under double digits is completely unrealistic, imo.
Iirc, there were reports he asked 10 million aav on a longterm deal from Carolina last summer. Probably could have been negotiated down a little bit, but things have changed a lot since the summer, wrt the future cap. Got to remember his new contract will start when the cap is 104 million. His contract demands last summer were based on an 88 million cap.
I'd expect his ask this summer to be in the ~12 million range, hopefully it can be negotiated down to 11-ish. Could also have a situation where Necas will just say "12 million or I bet on myself in the next season". Flipside of that is of course Necas and his agent knows damn well CMac might swing his huge brass balls at him and tell him to enjoy his contract year in Anaheim or Buffalo.
I think in the end he'll be re-signed this summer. If it's 11x8, I'm a very happy camper. In that case the AAV increase on Necas' contracts will be 4.5 million (from 6.5) in an offseason the cap increases 8.5 million and Manson's contract goes off the books. Expecting 11.5-ish, though.
This is his first season where he's averaging over 20 minutes TOI/G.I'd bet money it's not close to $12 mil, and i'd be very surprised if it's more than $10.5 mil.
Usually the player asks for $10 mil, the team offers $6 mil and they met around $8 mil if both sides want to get a deal done. While the expected cap is $104 mil, it's not guaranteed. Next year's salary projection is $93 mil, that's what the framework of the contract will be based off of.
This would be Necas' first season that is over PPG and he had only one season where he cracked 70 points before that. I get how good he looks right now, but you need to factor in past performance and production.
We'll probably not agree on the expected aav, but the NHL and NHLPA already set next years cap at 95.5 million. The only "potential minor adjustments (up or down)" were for the 104 cap in 26-27 and 113.5 in 27-28.I'd bet money it's not close to $12 mil, and i'd be very surprised if it's more than $10.5 mil.
