If anything I think Necas kind proves that Rod is holding the Canes back with his system. The biggest issue in Carolina has always been a lack of game breaking talent and they clearly had one in Necas, but Rod wouldn't let him do his thing because it was risky and didn't fit the system. I think the Canes still have their flaws, especially in losing such an electric talent in Necas, but I'm curious if he's been holding back some other guys on their roster.

Every team has flaws and has a system where not all players can fit. For the Avs it's defensive defenders that can't skate and physical forwards. The difference is the Avs system lets a player's talent shine, whereas the Canes can mask player's deficiencies and boost up lesser talent.

In a way, they're both pretty extreme examples compared to other coaches' systems like DeBoer.

Necas is barely a point per game pace. How can he get 10 millions?

MacFarland should offer Makar a Rolex to swap jerseys with him.

I mean, Cale is twice as good as he was when he first entered the league, so it would make sense to give him another 8 now. And then we get Necas for 80M, right?

As for the impication that Makar would then be looking at 880M, I have no problems with him becoming our new majority owner. They'll have to work out a separate deal for that though, keeping his NHL salary under 20% of the total cap of course.
