Hello Kings fans:

Winnipeg jets fan coming in peace.

I was wondering what Kings fans think of Martin Jones. I love the guy and we so need better goaltending in Winnipeg.

Your team is essentially perfect, so with the deepest respect I can offer, I will leave and never come back if you want to keep Jones and change nothing.

A humble outsider..

imo, he has a higher ceiling than Bernier. Having said that, he won't be going anywhere until his RFA status is up (much like Bernier), barring any crazy proposal(s) for him.

He's going to be highly affordable, extremely competent backup in LA for the next couple years, but I'm sure after that a team like Winnipeg will be a potential landing spot for him. He won't be this complacent or cheap forever, and he'll want/deserve a crack at a #1 somewhere. By then we'll have hopefully targeted his replacement from within.

The return will likely be a prospect we like, a depth player we like, or a pick and the luxury of cap space. The Diet version of the Bernier trade.

Feel bad for the Jets being stuck with garbage like Pavelec in goal, it must be demoralizing for the rest of the players. Outside of a couple of good years from Potvin we Kings fans went through the same thing with guys like Storr, Cechmanek, Garon and Stephane Feces.

Stephane Feces....that's funny..

we can't deal Ehlers or Trouba..but we do have a couple of high end prospects that aren't ready to start for us yet..Hellybuyck and Eric comrie...they could grow for you and be ready to take over from Quick when the time comes.

In regards to something bigger, if you want Kane...Pearson and Jones? just in case Gaborik gets hurt, or maybe to get ready for when Justin Williams gets a little too old.....? no...am I crazy?

The Kings don't have a goaltender in the system who can act as a serviceable NHL backup at this time, which makes it very hard to imagine doing a deal.

Plus, backups just don't have good value for the most part, so I don't see the Kings being interested.

The Kings don't have any cap space at all, we can't even bring up certain guys in the minors on emergency call ups :)

That value is really close, I think, but the Kings can't absorb a big contract at all. The only type of deal that would work is jones plus one of our grinders for a backup and an enticing player still on their ELC. It would have to be something exceptional to get the Kings to think about it.

Pearson is off-limits. The Kings finally got their long-awaited 2nd line LW in him and That '70s Line is our best line right now.

Right, we don't have a near-ready Martin Jones 2.0 waiting in the wings so we can trade Martin 1.0 later. We'll have to see how Jean-Francois Berube and Patrik Bartosak develop. Still, being traded from the Kings to have a shot at being #1 on another team has worked out pretty well for Jonathan Bernier and Ben Scrivens.

He'll be traded to wherever Frattin is. On whichever continent that is.

 I like that guy.

He's making the league minimum now, depending on the cap we may have to move him this offseason.
