Exactly, here's what Roy and Hasek fans dont want to admit:

Brodeur was the more durable goalie, he helped his teams more because he could play wayyy more games.
Who doesn't admit that? Is there anyone in here arguing that Brodeur played fewer games than Roy or Hasek?

Helping his team more is certainly arguable. Brodeur's best season had him provide a value of almost 70 GAR (Goals Above Replacement, attempts to estimate how many more goals the goalie prevented compared to what a league average goalie would have prevented). That is stupendously good, and was certainly helped by the fact that he played 78 games. He had another over 60, and 3 more over 50.

Hasek had 5 seasons where his GAR was over 70, 3 seasons where it was over 80, two of which where it was almost 90.

This doesn't take into account Brodeur's playmaking. But that's one hell of a gap to bridge.

They were 2nd in their division in 85-86, and 5th in the conference. In 92-93, they were third in the division, and 4th in the conference. They were still a playoff team, and not totally devoid of talent, sure, but they weren't elite by any measure.
Devils teams that won the Cup, 1995 5th seed, 2000, 4th and 2003 they were 2nd. Sure the 92-93 team was 3rd in the division but they also had 102 points.

The Devils in 95 and the Canadiens in 85-86 were the years that neither team roared into the playoffs, both had fairly mediocre regular seasons.

I think Brodeur is one of the best ever, but there is no way you do not take Hasek here. From 93 to 2001 there is an argument to be made that he was the greatest player in the league. 6 Vezinas, two straight Harts(could have been 3 since 1999 was his best year), Olympic gold.

Others have touched upon his unorthodox style but there was nothing lucky about it. Other than Gretzky, Orr and Lemiuex there is no player in their position for that long of a stretch that was so clearly above their peers.
