I've already read a couple of post/tweets about how terrible he was and the only reason he won so many game was the trap :shakehead

Just point out to them that his better season numbers wise came playing behind a D lead by Paul Martin.

Haters going to hate.

As long as his career has been, Brodeur still only worked under one GM (until the last 6 games). Getting some front office experience with another franchise, especially one that has had a successful rebuild over the last decade will be invaluable to him I would think.

just wait: kovalchuk will come back to north america and the blues will illegally sign him to some crazy deal, violating many transfer agreements and NHL and IIHF protocols, and then marty will be awarded to the devils as compensation where he will apprentice under lou.

well if the past means anything, NJ would be awarded pietrangelo and tarasenko in this case

Glad I got to see him play numerous times in person and glad I got a stick signed by him. Great player, bit shocked by the Blues Assistant GM thing though haha.

Pretty incredible that he was so good for so long. Can't argue with results. Hats off to him on a great, great run.

Best of luck to Marty on his post-playing career, though in a selfish note I hope he finds front office success with a different franchise.

Why wouldn't he stick with the Blues until the end of the season? Might have another ring before he goes back to NJ.

Congrats Marty.....amazing career and player.

Wonder if Lou felt like a he got a kick in the balls when he heard Marty joined the Blues front office.

Good for him and good luck.

Certainly was weird seeing him in a Blues uniform, but I'm glad I made the trek up a few weeks back when he played in Anaheim. I figured it'd be my last chance to see him play live and possibly his last game period.

I have a mountain of goalie equipment which I can attribute to Marty.

"- New Jersey Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello told Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger that Brodeur will be back with the Devils but will finish this season in St. Louis."

An all time great retired. I don't care if he hung on too long as that's not mine, yours, or anyone but 31 men's call in the NHL. For an athlete its hard to retire. The amount of games in STL doesn't matter as he will always be the greatest Devil in my heart.

This is to disprove the whole myth that Brodeur was a product of the trap. These numbers will show that his best SV% years (in comparison to the league average) were actually in the higher scoring years, and not during the DPE.

I stopped at 09-10 because that was his last prime season. Every season after that was basically decline seasons.
