Stop repeating this is “aaaw the pressure is too high in Torontoooo” - it’s not! If it is for some, they shouldn’t be pro athletes. Geeeez….imagine Real Madrid or Man United (example) players - they’re under pressure, and if they don’t deliver, they’re sent away to another league or team. Or, if you’re team is facing degradation in the SHL or Premier League, missing out on millions and playing in the highest league - then you can talk about pressure.

How can Leafs players be expected to deliver when they’re playing for a team that hasn’t won in 60 years? You gotta stop with this narrative. They’re just not good enough, and Marner’s not going to become a playoff warrior by leaving
I didn't say anything about pressure. I just expect Marner to succeed elsewhere because that would be the most frustrating and annoying outcome for Leaf fans, which is usually a good bet.

Because Mitch pretends he’s a defenceman half the time, he’s playing the right way?

at least he's working and doing some little thing even if hes not in scoring sheet

it's clear leafs can't come back stick with Matthews,Marner and Nylander ... and Matthews will stay

So if i had to choose between

1- a guy playing a lot on peripheric, not scoring a lot of goal but working hard, taking hit for his team and doing a lot of little thing to help his team outside of his offensive

2- An individual player who's extremely skilled but looking like a passenger most of the time and playing for himself. Who doesn't care at all about team succes but only care of himself, doing everything he can to avoid hit years after years.

Individually in term of skill, Nylander is a bettet player no doubt... But sorry at the end, the most skilled team basically never won in playoff if he don't work as hard than the other team.

I personally prefer a team with less skill and more heart than a team with more skill but less heart but you don't need to be agree

This is the face of someone who cares. Don't let the organization or media sway u. Shanny is the one the needs to go.

Marner is useless in the playoffs, and just because he has fake outrage and temper tantrums doesn’t mean he has heart

Marner need to score at higher rate, everybody is 100% agree with it but no hes not useless even if he don't score because he still able to do a lot of different thing.

Nylander if he don't producing like he did last 4 game, he's useless because he bring absolutly nothing else... and i think useless is not the right word, if Nylander don't producing, hes becoming an handicap to a team because the fact he taking shift off after shift after shift and even able to do it in a f***ing overtime. Its a momemtum killer and just giving up even more energy to the opponent unstead to your own team. Thats just killing team culture Berube try to bring it where everyone should battling for each other

Nylander already did this last year with his “stop crying bro”. Too bad nobody listened then and they went out in the first round. Who’s going to listen to this guy a year later and a dollar short.

Marner was whining after he gave up the puck being weak causing the first goal. It was pretty pathetic.

The time to move Marner was after the Montreal series or before his NMC kicked in. At that time I used words like "get rid of the little puke" or worse. Do you really think we're going to replace a 100pt player with two 50pt players that have the same impact he does during the regular season? The key is what does he want...anything over 12.5 is a no go for me because it leaves you nothing to add pieces to the other lines that are needed.

As much as we need change to the core 5, the ones that should go are Tavares and Rielly. Rielly offers nothing in the regular season anymore and in the playoffs he's been a liability defensively on a level not seen since Gardner. With the rise in cap and the $20M savings on the these two, we should fill some of our needs.

Overall I'm okay with them trying a few times with this core to make a deep run because there is so much talent there.

The one thing I can't forgive is not getting anything for Marner when this scenario of him walking after another disappointing playoff exit seemed like a strong possibility for so long.

Biggest organizational mistake since the Rask and Kessel trades.

Personally I prefer the player with both more skill and more heart, so I'm quite happy seeing Marner go.

I'm not saying that letting Tavares go is wrong, far from it, but what would you do to fill a center void this offseason? We already lack depth in that position and losing Tavares doesn't help that. We at least need to pretend to compete. So I'd be interested to hear what you and others have in mind there.

more hurt is certainly not Nylander, He was probably biggest passenger game 3 to 7

Sure showing so much hurt throwing the puck away everytime to avoid hit, watching his teammate defend and doing f***all to help them all series long. Waiting for easy scoring chance off the rush

That's what he did over and over and over again in D even when Toronto was in OT, its how and/or level of energy he played with in D.. That's the complete reverse of playing with heart and no team will never win anything playing that way, its just impossible sorry

He having incredible skill and able to convert at pretty high rate but never played with any kind of heart of his life.

Spot on. 100+ point regular seasons don't mean sh!t if he disappears in the playoffs. To add insult to injury to the team, he single handedly screwed this team's future by declining the Rantanen trade. Rantanen even signed a long term deal at an AAV the Leafs likely would have been comfortable paying for f**k's sake!

Imagine if that trade worked out and Leafs got Rantanen while Marner was on his way to Carolina? Very good chance both teams would still be playing right now which would be a win-win situation for both the team and Marner's camp.

Yeah he wasn’t good the last 4 games and we won 1 of them go figure eh the moment they switched the matchup with barkov he went quiet and the top line stayed quiet

He hsd been great game 1 and 2 no doubt but its the 2 only game he was engaged. My concernvis the lack of engagement to the team and its started during game 3...

In Ot he cost the game with his lack of engagement... Everything started with Nylander affraid to be hit just throwing the puck away and gave the puck back to Florida just to avoid a hit and he did it everytime he hit the ice in OT not just on that play but on every single shift.... Result Florida kept the control of the puck for a long moment with Nylander line still caught in defensive zone... It was in an OT, if you are unable to show up intensity in overtime with the game on the line, you will never... Simple as that

And we still saw the same result gm 4 5 6 and 7.

When hes engaged, he can be as good than mackinnon but when hes playing that way... he's closer to Patrick Laine who basically been an add by subtraction for habs in playoff

We saw it, his teammate saw the same thing too. How do you want to create a kind of family where each other playing for each other with a player who should be a leader completly disengaged. good luck

One of him or jt has to go and honestly if we kept marner no more letter on the sweater no more playing with Matthews I really don’t care too much for jt tbh his 11 million started this bs
It was quite frustrating for me all year that Marner never got his own line.

Not just for the common reasons, but because I knew we would reach this juncture... and no, we can't now obligate $100M with an NMC attached to see if that might work.

That's not part of the equation anymore - information absent - forget about it.

Bad mgmt of an important asset.
