Not really. Laine is only signed for one more season anywayLaine @ 6.75M (although short term) > Marner @ 10.9M
Why do you want Laine?
Um ya, the difference between the two is not a first and another piece. Besides Laine doesn't help Leafs they need defence, not more scoring. Marner though a winger actually is the playmaker who works well with a shoot first Mathews and has shown great chemistry with Tavares. Don't think the Jets are interested either. Contracts aside Marner has the edge though but not another first and centre added. To Winnipeg: Marner
To Toronto: Laine + Depth Center + 1st
Ik but a reasonable GM will probably sign him to something like an 8M contract long-term.Not really. Laine is only signed for one more season anyway
It makes sense from Toronto but if Jets are trading Laine they probably don't want Marner's contract.Wouldn’t be smart for Jets to give up ++ on top of Laine, wouldn’t be smart for Leafs to get another player supposedly looking for a big payday
I thought Winnipeg were in need of Centers? To Winnipeg: Marner

Laine for Matthews.
I don't see how he's okay with only a million more for a long term contract instead of a 2 year bridge. He'll look for at least 10 millionIk but a reasonable GM will probably sign him to something like an 8M contract long-term.
