Value of: Marner as a UFA

I don't think Marner really wants to leave Toronto for say....Columbus like he threatened as an RFA

Toronto should hold firm and offer him 12.5-12.75 x 8

If he doesn't like it there are a lot of good young UFAs on the market and we can take his salary and sign a couple of them
Yeah for sure. I’m just saying he holds the cards in the negotiating.

Then he can continue to play for his buddies.
One can only hope

Best case scenario for Marner and new team is a team rebuilding or exiting a rebuild where the goal is playoffs. Marner is an elite superstar and that shit is a piece of cake for him.

No team should be signing him to be the guy and expect him to do it when it counts

Minnesota Wild seem like a good guess. The it's the kind of splash Craig Leopold said he would do. I can also see it working out as well as the Suter/Parise one did. Pretty meh.

He didn't turn it down, he wasn't willing to negotiate. Big difference. Marner won't get less than. 12M on the market, but if he wants to sign with an already established good team he will have to sign for less than what he could make elsewhere
Lol. No way he accepts 12 unless its something crazy like florida. The bare min he will take is 14×7

He's going to get big offers in UFA but purely from the value point he should not get a dime more than Rantanen and no don't care if Dallas is a no state tax team.

...the Leafs offered him 13.5 million a year and he turned it down. Saying you don't want to negotiate when you get offered a contract extension is in fact turning the offer down lol crazy idea I know.

He should absolutely go to the Hawks, Blue jackets, something like that. Zero pressure, 0 expectations, he can collect his mega paycheck while not having to worry about performing in the playoffs. Completely ideal scenario imo

If he leaves Toronto he wants to go somewhere where he can win and doesn't have the demons that Toronto does.

I can't see him going to another pressure cooker market like Vancouver or Montreal.

Colorado or Carolina are my guesses. Maybe Boston, NYR cap space depending?
